Episode 30 – Idiocracy: 4th of July Special w/Adam Kokesh (1:52:59)

We bring on Adam Kokesh to talk Idiocracy for the 4th of July (the original Secession Day) Special of the Actual Anarchy Podcast.  From Mike Judge, one of the creative minds behind Beavis and Butt-Head, King of the Hill, and Office Space, comes an outrageous sci-fi comedy that’ll make you think twice about the future of mankind. Meet Joe Bowers (Luke Wilson). He’s not the sharpest tool in the shed. But when a government hibernation experiment goes awry, Bowers awakens in the far-flung future, he is now the smartest man alive.

Here is the Google Info:

In 2005, average in every way private Joe Bowers (Luke Wilson) is selected to take part in a secret military experiment to put him in hibernation for a year along with a woman named Rita (Maya Rudolph). The slumbering duo is forgotten when the base they are stored on is closed down and are left in stasis until 2505. When they finally wake up, they discover the average intelligence of humans has decreased so much that Joe is now the smartest man in the world.

During the discussion, we mentioned what would the first step be that each of us would take.  You can see Adam’s Platform above.

My take was to “blind the state” and remove the ability for them to collect statistics and justify their programs intended to “help” people.  As Reagan said, if someone comes to your door and says they are from the government, they are here to help…don’t open the door.

Robert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/AnarchoCapitalist perspective.

We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking.   Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread and butter.

We also will highlight and discuss any themes or lessons from Austrian Economics that we can glean from the film.

The point is to show what anarchy actually is with instances that are presented in film.

We publish at least once per week; and occasionally will do specials surrounding holidays or events (elections/olympics) and have guests.
