One of the hot topics in the political sphere over the last few decades is college tuition. Every year, the cost of acquiring a degree increases, leaving countless students with student-loan debts in the high five figures, and in many cases, six figures. This crippling debt follows them for much of their lives, even if they are lucky enough to find a job that pays well enough to manage their loan payments.
How did we get here? Are universities just greedy or are there more fundamental economic forces at play? Many politicians think that the solution is to make college tuition free. But will that solve or exacerbate the problem? What are the real solutions? Do kids even need to go to college to be successful?
