A B-movie/war movie that is so over the top that it is actually an anti-war movie. Back when the left was dependably against war.

Mike C. joins us again to do his part as we discuss one of his favorite movies.

We also discuss how they acquired rights to Heinlein novel for the name and some characters, but is pretty much the opposite of the sentiment of the novel and was already written prior to said acquisition. In fact, the director couldn’t even get through the novel.

This may be one of the great troll jobs in film history.

One person who had early access to this episode gave this glowing remark:

Awesome show this week! I was just going to listen to a few minutes now and wait until Monday, but here I am having finished it. I thought it was funny that somebody referred to it as having a Saturday morning cartoony feel, and that is what I did when I woke up this morning.

Thank you for joining us on this episode of the Actual Anarchy Podcast!

The Actual Anarchy Podcast is all about Maximum Freedom.

Robert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/Anarcho-Capitalist perspective. If it’s voluntary, we’re cool with it. If it’s not, then it violated the Non-Aggression Principle and Property Rights – the core tenants of Libertarian Theory – and hence – human freedom.

We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking. Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread and butter.

We also will highlight and discuss any themes or lessons from Austrian Economics that we can glean from the film.

The point is to show what anarchy actually is with instances that are presented in film.

We publish new episodes on Sunday just in time for your Monday commute; and occasionally will do specials surrounding holidays or events (elections/olympics).

For our show where we talk about movies from a Rothbardian/Anarcho-Capitalist perspective, we often watch them on our various devices via Netflix, Amazon Prime or on VUDU (which lets you redeem UV content as well). The VUDU one is nice because once it is in there, you know it will still be there a few months later:

We welcome Olof the Anarcho-Viking to discuss a film about the King of the Scots, Robert the Bruce and his struggle for a more local authority against King Edward of England in the new Netflix movie starring Chris Pine, Outlaw King.

This episode features the work of Hans-Hermann Hoppe, and specifically his book, Democracy the God that Failed, prominently.

This is essentially the continuing saga of the struggle of the Scots to be free of foreign rule that could be considered a sequel to Braveheart.

During the show we mentioned many different things, linked below:

Ralph Raico – Miracle of Europe

“The Rise of the West”
Raico, History of Liberty (2001)
https://mises.org/library/rise-west-0

“The Industrial Revolution”
Raico, Mises University (2001)
https://mises.org/library/industrial-revolution

Ralph Raico recommended this book in his talk on the Industrial Revolution. This book outlines the cause and events of the Irish Potato Famine and why it got as bad as it did.

“In The Noblest Triumph, Tom Bethell looks at the history of property rights and shows that the key role played by the institution of private property has been misunderstood by Western elites for more than a century.

Beginning with the ancient Greeks and arriving at the present day, Bethell looks at basic ideas about property found in the writings of Plato, Adam Smith, Blackstone, Bentham, Marx, Mill, and others.

He shows that the institution of property is inextricably tied to traditional conceptions of justice and liberty, and he argues that prosperity and civilization can only arise where private property is securely held by the people. The Noblest Triumph is an indispensable book for anyone interested in this fundamental aspect of civilization and the progress of humankind through the ages.”

Here is the Larken Rose video, “If You Were King” that goes through the logic behind why even a benevolent king cannot be truly moral:

Menken and Mises quotes:

“Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag; and begin slitting throats.” – H.L. Mencken

“Violent resistance against the power of the state is the last resort of the minority in its effort to break loose from the oppression of the majority. The minority that desires to see its ideas triumph must strive by intellectual means to become the majority.” – Ludwig von Mises

Many of the points discussed are related to Hans-Hermann Hoppe’s excellent book, “Democracy the God that Failed”.

This Disney animated feature follows the adventures of the young lion Simba (Zoe Leader), the heir of his father, Mufasa (Ernie Sabella). Simba’s wicked uncle, Scar (Rowan Atkinson), plots to usurp Mufasa’s throne by luring father and son into a stampede of wildebeests. But Simba escapes, and only Mufasa is killed. Simba returns as an adult (Jeremy Irons) to take back his homeland from Scar with the help of his friends Timon (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) and Pumbaa (Cheech Marin).

Jordan Peterson has burst onto the stage in recent years with an amazing combination of intellect and personality that is taking the world by storm. He is making a difference in many peoples’ lives and is the hottest thing going. He just recently released his new book, “12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos” and is gaining even further traction in making the world a better place.

I’m reading his book now.  Most of it is great so far.  There are a few areas that are soft.  And yes, I realize that he’s not an economist but there are a couple of glaring issues that if he better understood, he would be even more effective at helping people.

He claims “ideology” is bad and “anything that claims to have the answers” is bad. I would agree in 99.9% of cases, but clearly, the man hasn’t read Mises, Rothbard, Higgs, Woods, Block, or Hans-Hermann Hoppe.

So To Speak – The Misunderstood and Misrepresented Thought of Hans-Hermann Hoppe

He mentions a “Social Contract”, but in relationships, so I’m not sure if it is more a euphemism as opposed to the “social contract theory” employed by statists everywhere.

I do like that he reviles communism and questions why the seemingly “good intentions” result in murdering 100 million people. He also has researched mythology and stories to inform his understanding of society over time. I think this is beneficial.

He fears war in the technological age as the capacity to destroy the world is on the table. If he read some Higgs on this point, I think he would understand that it is primarily under a state that such destructive power can be amassed.

The State Is Too Dangerous to Tolerate

Perhaps Chaos Theory would be good here.

If I had my magic wand, I would get JP to engage with thin libertarianism a la Block’s question: “when is the initiation of force legitimate?”.

The Principle of Unequal Distribution:

“When a defeated lobster regains its courage and dares to fight again it is more likely to lose again than you would predict, statistically, from a tally of its previous fights. Its victorious opponent, on the other hand, is more likely to win. It’s winner-take-all in the lobster world, just as it is in human societies, where the top 1 percent have as much loot as the bottom 50 percent – and where the richest eighty-five people have as much as the bottom three and a half billion.

That same brutal principle applies outside the financial domain – indeed, anywhere that creative production is required.”

He brought up the wealth inequality that we all are familiar with from OxFam, and likened it to “winner-take-all” of the lobster hierarchy. Cringe.

JP making mention of it denotes a misunderstanding on economics as it is not zero-sum.

He gets into Pareto after this. Where he then states:

“…it appears true for every society studied, regardless of governmental form.”

Hmmmm…..Going to have to disagree there. I have a post about this that is based on a Mises quote, but clearly how much intervention and theft applied to citizens of a country will have an effect on their overall standard of living and the distribution of the “wealth”.

Here’s my screed against the “it doesn’t matter what type of government” is in place in regards to poverty:

‘The poverty of the backward nations is due to the fact that their policies of expropriation, discriminatory taxation and foreign exchange control prevent the investment of foreign capital while their domestic policies preclude the accumulation of indigenous capital.’

– Ludwig von Mises

http://store.mises.org/Anti-Capitalistic-Mentality-The-P45.aspx

It is precisely the type of government (or lack thereof) that determines the level to which voluntary interactions are interfered with and how much is stolen from the people living in its boundaries.

Much of Africa had post-colonial leaders that were trained in Western Universities in the “arts” of Keynesianism and socialism.

They brought these ideas back to their countries and became “benevolent dictators”. These policies have continued with the graft and grinding poverty unabated while they use foreign aid to enrich themselves with the 3 M’s: Mercedes, Monuments, and Machine Guns.

For the empiricists among viewers of this post, do check out the Heritage Foundation “Economic Freedom Index” where you will see a case of correlation and causation working in concert.

https://www.heritage.org/trade/report/2018-index-economic-freedom-freedom-trade-key-prosperity

This is an excellent discussion by Ralph Raico on what has saved humanity in general from the “nasty, brutish and short” life.

https://mises.org/library/industrial-revolution

I also want to throw in a comment about Child Labor laws (not that this has anything to do with Peterson’s book):  Unions and government often take the credit for an already happening trend that was a result of capital investment and increases in productivity.

Where there are still “sweat shops”, one must understand that eternal economic question: “compared to what?”

What other alternatives exist?  Is a sweat shop better than those?

Often the alternative is not playing in the park, or going to school. It is prostitution or starvation.

So, credit taken where none due. And it is used to the aggrandizement of institutions counter to voluntary arrangements. The state and the collective know better than you. And it’s such a great idea, they have to use force to impose their benevolence.

But, back to Peterson and his book, I find it difficult to read a book where I am fairly sure the author isn’t strong in an area and then uses this as a premise for the rest of their argument.

It’s just hard to see such a brilliant guy wrong on a foundational component that makes a big difference in what he is arguing.

Granted, he’s way smarter than me.

His solution of individual responsibility and sorting yourself out first are still great advice.

I am learning a lot from him and I think he is an important voice. He’s so hot right now that I wish he was hot for freedom from the state as well.

One more point I wanted to make:

Peterson “almost” lays out Misesian Human Action as purposeful human behavior (having trouble finding this part again…but it was really good).

Libertarians under crossfire

We have never been short of people taking aim at Hans-Hermann Hoppe, especially those who are hitting from the left. Recently, however, the frequency of the attacks has increased within so called “left libertarian” circles.

Tom Palmer, a fellow at the Cato Institute, just the other day went after the great Austro-Libertarian for his alleged fascist sympathies, and labeled him a “racial collectivist” and a “racist” among other things. Palmer also went on using a collectivist blanket statement, to label the supporters of Hans Hoppe as a “Stalinist movement”.

One might think that such an attack on a scholar par excellence like Prof. Hoppe is a rare occurrence given the level of ridiculousness embedded in Palmer’s accusations. One might also think that Palmer is merely a sour grape and a sore loser, as well as an exception. But, Tom Palmer has company within the Hoppe hating cult.

Examples of “left libertarians” joining the chorus of Tom Palmer in the Hoppe hating cult, are: Jeffrey Tucker, Steve Horwitz, and David Boaz. Horwitz has even gone so far as to say that he would “far rather have kids read Marx than Hoppe” after a decentralist speech delivered by the president of the Mises Intitute, Jeff Deist, during the summer of 2017 as he was addressing the libertarian crowd in Malta at the Corax conference.

Strategy for social change

The ashes from the flames caused by Jeff Deist’s speech had barely settled when Hans Hoppe took the stage at the twelfth annual Property and Freedom Society conference, in October 2017, where he gave the notorious talk on libertarianism and the alt right. Among “left libertarians” Hoppe’s speech was interpreted as very controversial, inflammatory, and incendiary, and needless to say, was not very well received by the Cato sympathizers and beltway libertarians.

One of the primary reasons why Hoppe has become the favorite hate object among “left libertarians”, is because he dares to talk, and write about, not just the principles of libertarian property rights theory, but also, and perhaps more importantly, what libertarians must do in order to arrive from point A (a very non libertarian starting point) to point B (a libertarian social order). In other words, he emphasizes the importance of a libertarian strategy for social change. Hoppe argues that such a libertarian strategy must involve a right wing populist approach, and hence many of Hoppe’s loyal followers are coming from more culturally conservative and right wing ideological backgrounds.

Maintaining a social order

The second area which Hoppe stresses the importance of, is how a libertarian social order could be maintained once it has been achieved. This is where the idea of private covenant anarcho-capitalist communities is introduced, and furthermore also the widely misunderstood issue of physical removal. Again, Hoppe takes a rather conservative position and advocates for covenants established for the purpose of family, place, and kin (“blood and soil”). The line of arguments that Hoppe makes, is that the afore mentioned covenants would be more likely to be populated with a population who generally would have a lower rate of time-preference, and therefore by praxeological deduction a higher degree of economic prosperity would emerge. These covenants, Hoppe claims, would also be more culturally homogenous, and consequently the likelihood of clashes and conflicts between individuals or groups of individuals, would be significantly lower. Cultural homogeny, a lower rate of time-preference and capital accumulation, and economic prosperity are crucial elements in order to minimize physical clashes for the sake of maintaining a peaceful social order, which is indeed what libertarians seek to do.

For a person who is introduced to small portions of Prof. Hoppe’s writings as a beginner, and who is also not versed very well in Austro-libertarian thought, might take away skewed and distorted views of Hoppe’s scholarly genius. It should therefore be clarified from the get-go that Hoppe is not just the character who populate countless memes about physical removal involving helicopters, which have been generously used and distributed by people who are self-proclaimed white nationalists.

Contrary to how Hoppe is portrayed by both the “left libertarians” and the alt righters, he is a libertarian academic with stellar credentials carrying the recognition as a Distinguished Fellow of the Ludwig von Mises Institute. Hoppe’s praxeological defense of a private law society based on property rights, using argumentation ethics, is best presented in his masterpiece, The Economics and Ethics of Private Property, which is the best piece of literature that I have ever read on this very subject.

Recent controversy

The most recent incident that brought Hoppe back under crossfire, was under the circumstances regarding Christopher Chase Rachels and his new book titled: White, Right, and Libertarian. Most people are probably familiar with Chase’s previous book, A Spontaneous Order: The Capitalist Case For A Stateless Society, which earned him an appearance on the Tom Woods Show. Chase asked Prof. Hoppe if he would be willing to write the forewords to his new book, and Hoppe graciously agreed. However, an important detail is that Chase did not reveal his planned cover for the book. When it turned out that the book cover was very indecent, and frankly grotesque to put it mildly, Hoppe decided in agreement with the Ludwig von Mises Institute, to withdraw the consent to use his forewords for Chase’s new book. It did not take long before the “left libertarian” outcry started with false allegations over Hoppe’s and the Mises Institute’s connection to white nationalism and its subscribers, even though the precise opposite is true given the above summary of the series of events that took place between Chase Rachels and Prof. Hoppe. Tom Palmer was not late in his continuing smearing campaign against the Mises Institute and labeled it “the sewer of the Mises Institute”, which is a very odd accusation. The only thing the Mises Institute and Prof. Hoppe did, was to reject collaboration with Chase Rachels after the book cover leaked, and yet the Institute is being libeled. At this point it should be very clear why someone from the Cato Institute would engage in juvenile slander against the Mises Intitute and its scholars. And it is solely for institutional rivalry reasons. I just do not believe for even one second that someone, like Tom Palmer would be so stupid as to actually think that Hans-Hermann Hoppe is a closeted klansman.

Engaging with extremists

All of these initiated attacks from the left bring to light the issue of some of the controversial followers and admirers of Prof. Hoppe’s work. I do not dispute that there might be some people who identify as white nationalists or who are from the so called alt right wing of the political spectrum, and who are familiar with Hoppe’s work, and who are citing his work on different social media platforms.

Nonetheless, why would it necessarily be a bad thing to have followers who are “extremists” in one way or another?

I cannot see how this is a negative, besides one’s opponents being able to use it as smear propaganda material against oneself?

Why would we as libertarians, be against the opportunity to educate the alt right about property rights and non-aggression?

If we can turn an alt-righter, who does not have a sound ideological foundation to rest on, towards becoming a proponent of a private law society, then how is that anything but a net benefit for the libertarian movement?

There is further reason for a person from the alt right to support Prof. Hoppe’s views of anarcho-capitalist societies. People who are well acquainted with Hoppe’s views will understand that the concept of private covenant communities allows for a variety of societies to coexist peacefully. The white nationalists will be allowed to collectivize voluntarily and establish an ethno state if they so wish, and the same goes for any other ethnic group or religious group.

Likewise, there would also be room for voluntary socialism and communism. This brings me back to my main argument, that it is on net a positive and good thing that some purported “extremists” are familiarizing themselves with one of our greatest libertarian thinkers.

The libertarian movement will benefit from nudging right wing and left wing extremists in the direction of radical decentralization as opposed to fighting for the sought after central power to rule over everyone, and then force one’s opponent to conform to one’s views and lifestyle, which will obviously lead to more physical clashes as opposed to peaceful separation.

3:29Thank You Jill for that nice
3:32introduction thank you me this ensued
3:36Jeff diced the Rockwell that our net for
3:40the honor to be the keynote speaker here
3:44I will not talk about horticulture even
3:50though I’m a member of the Royal
3:52Horticultural Society thanks to my wife
3:56who is an ardent gardener I’m just more
3:59spectator but my topic is coming of age
4:05with Marie I first met Marie Rose part
4:12in the summer of 1985 I was in 35 years
4:18old and Marie was 59 and for the next 10
4:24years until Marie’s premature death in
4:271995 I would be associated with Marie
4:30first in New York City and then in Las
4:33Vegas at UNLV in closer and more
4:38immediate and direct contact than anyone
4:40else except his wife Julie of course now
4:44being almost as old now as Marie was at
4:47the time of his death I thought that it
4:50would be appropriate to use this
4:52occasion to speak and reflect a little
4:55bit on what I learned during my 10 years
4:58was Marie I was already an adult when I
5:04first met Marie not just in the
5:07biological but also in the mental and
5:10intellectual sense and yet I only came
5:13of age while associated with him and I
5:18want to talk about this experience
5:21before I met Marie I had already
5:24completed my PhD and attained the rank
5:28of private thoughts int that is an a
5:32tenured but unpaid University professor
5:35that incident incidentally is the same
5:37rank that Ludwig von Mises once held in
5:40Vienna the
5:42part from my doctoral dissertation I had
5:45already completed two books one that
5:49revealed me as a musician and another
5:52about to be published in the following
5:55year 1986 that revealed me as a rose
6:00bargain I had already read all of Mises
6:04and rose bard theoretical works but I
6:08must admit that I had not yet read
6:10Marie’s voluminous journalistic work
6:13which was essentially unavailable to me
6:16at that time in Germany thus it was not
6:20my personal encounter with Muresan that
6:23made me a musician and the rose bargain
6:27intellectually I was already a musician
6:30and rose bargain years before I ever met
6:33Marie personally and so notwithstanding
6:36the fact that I am and consider myself
6:39also foremost a theoretician I do not
6:43want to speak here about the grand
6:45Austral libertarian intellectual edifice
6:48that Mises and in his succession
6:52Rothbart have handed down to us or about
6:56my own small contributions to this
6:58system but about my long personal
7:01experience with Marie about the
7:04practical and existential lessons that I
7:08learned through my encounters with him
7:11and that turned me from an adult to a
7:14man who had come of age I moved to New
7:19York City because I considered Marie the
7:23greatest of all social theorists at
7:25least in the 20th century if not of all
7:29times just as I considered Mises the
7:33greatest of all economists of all times
7:36and with Mises having gone long ago and
7:40out of the picture I wanted to meet get
7:43to know and work with this man Rose Bart
7:46I still hold this view concerning the
7:50greatness of Mises and Rose Bart indeed
7:53even more so than
7:56thirty years ago and since then there
7:59has been no second Mises or Ross part
8:02not even close and we may have to wait
8:05for a long time to come
8:08for this to happen again so I moved to
8:12New York City
8:13knowing Murray’s work but knowing almost
8:17nothing about the men
8:19remember this was 1985 I was still
8:25writing in longhand and then using a
8:30mechanical typewriter acquainting myself
8:33was a computer for the first time only
8:36during the following year at UNLV and
8:39Murray never used a computer but State
8:42was an electric typewriter until the end
8:45of his life there were no cell phones
8:48there were no emails no internet no
8:52Google Novica pedia at no YouTube at the
8:57beginning even fax machines did not
8:59exist so my correspondence was Murray
9:03proceeding my arrival in New York City
9:06was by old regular snail mail Murray
9:10expressed his enthusiasm about my wish
9:13to meet and work with him and
9:15immediately offer to enlist the help of
9:17Bert bloomers and indeed Bert loom art
9:22then was of instrumental help in
9:24facilitating my move from Europe to the
9:27US the wonderful Bert bloomer
9:31incidentally was the owner of Camino
9:34coins and also the founder of the
9:37original Center for libertarian studies
9:40that would ultimately be integrated and
9:43merged with the Mises Institute Bert
9:47Lumet was one of Marie’s dearest friends
9:49and confidence and he was also a great
9:52benefactor and dear friend to me I had
9:56seen some photos of Murray I knew that
10:00he liked Mises was Jewish that he taught
10:04at Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute which
10:07was subsequently renamed as
10:09New York Polytechnic University and
10:12nowadays Polytechnic Institute of NYU
10:16that he was the odd editor of the much
10:19admired Journal of libertarian studies
10:22and that he was closely associated as
10:25its academic director with the Ludwig
10:28von Mises Institute that Lew Rockwell
10:30had recently then 35 years ago in 1982
10:35found it and that was about it
10:38and so both unprepared we met for the
10:43first time in Maurice University office
10:47here was I the cool blonde from the
10:51north that was that was a popular
10:55advertisement for bitter-tasting north
10:58north and German beers young tall and
11:03athletic and somewhat unsociable dry and
11:07was a dry sense of humor and more on the
11:10blunt sarcastic and confrontational side
11:15so you might say I was perfect there ma
11:18material if you were and there was Marie
11:26the big city no erotic to use a German
11:30title of Woody Allen’s comedic any whore
11:33a generation older short and round
11:38non-athletic
11:39even clumsy except for typing gregarious
11:45and hilarious never moping but every
11:50joyful and in his personal dealings
11:53quite unlike in his writings always non
11:57confrontational well tempered or even
12:00tame not exactly via ma material though
12:07personality wise then we could hardly
12:09have been more different indeed we were
12:12quite an odd couple and yet we hit it
12:16off from the start
12:18given the long special historical
12:21relationship between Germans and Jews
12:34so I am I as a young German meeting an
12:39older Jew in America had been afraid
12:42that this history might become a
12:44potential source of tension but not so
12:50quite to the contrary on the subject of
12:54religion itself there was general
12:57agreement we were both agnostics yet was
13:00a profound interest in the sociology of
13:03religion and quite similar views on
13:06comparative religion yet murray greatly
13:09deepened my understanding of the role of
13:12religion in history through his
13:14unfortunately uncompleted great work
13:17during the last decade of his life on
13:19the history of economic thought moreover
13:23in our countless conversations I learned
13:27from Murray about the importance of
13:29complementing Austral libertarian theory
13:32with revisionist history in order to
13:36come up with a truly realistic
13:38assessment of historic events and global
13:42affairs and it was I then as someone who
13:46had grown up in defeated and devastated
13:50post-world War two West Germany which as
13:54then instill official history taught
13:57across all German schools and
14:00universities of a feeling guilty and
14:04ashamed of being German and German
14:06history and be believing that America
14:10and America’s democratic capitalism was
14:14the greatest thing since or even before
14:16the invention of sliced bread so it was
14:21I who had to revise his formally still
14:25despite all Austria libertarian theory
14:29still quite Rosa naive views about world
14:33affairs in general and u.s. American and
14:37German history in particular as a matter
14:40of fact Murray made me fundamentally
14:43changed my Rosa rosy view of the United
14:47States
14:48and help me for the first time to feel
14:52consoled content and even happy about
14:55being just a German and to develop a
15:00special concern for Germany in the faith
15:03of the German people – my initial
15:07surprisin and ultimately my great and
15:10pleasant relief Marie was quite a German
15:13Oh file he knew and highly appreciated
15:16the German contributions to philosophy
15:19mathematics science engineering
15:22scholarly history and literature his
15:26beloved teacher Mises had originally
15:29written in German and was a product of
15:32German culture Marie loved German music
15:36he loved German baroque churches he
15:39loved the Bavarian beer garden
15:40atmosphere and the from church to beer
15:43garden we go tradition
15:46his wife Joey was of German ancestry her
15:51maiden name being Joe and shoe Maha and
15:54Joey was a member of the jihad Varna
15:57Society of all societies and a lifelong
16:01opera buff as well most of Marie’s
16:04friends that I would eventually meet
16:07turned out German oh files foremost
16:10among them Ralph Rakel the great
16:13historian of classical liberalism who I
16:17had hoped to see again at this occasion
16:20but who sadly left us forever almost a
16:23year ago now I met Ralph only a few
16:27months after my arrival in New York City
16:30at the party held at Marie’s apartment
16:33on the Upper West Side I immediately
16:36took to his caustic sarcasm and over the
16:40years we developed a close friendship
16:43apart from our many meetings at various
16:47Mises Institute events I still fondly
16:51remember in particular our extended
16:54joint travels in northern Italy and
16:57especially when at a conference in
17:00Milano sponsored by some friends and
17:03affiliates of the once but no longer is
17:06a session ously g’nort some
17:10self-proclaimed who would have guessed
17:12that anti-fascist demonstrators appeared
17:17in front of the conference hotel to
17:20denounce us to our great amusement as
17:23Leibert re fascist II
17:30ralph was also the one who introduced me
17:33to the revisionist history religious
17:37scholarship concerning World War one and
17:40World War two as well as the entire
17:43interwar period and it was Ralph who
17:48taught me about the history of German
17:50liberalism and in particular it’s
17:53radical 19th century libertarian
17:56representatives that had been almost
17:59completely forgotten in contemporary
18:01Germany incidentally new Rockwell too
18:06early on showed that his German ofall
18:09credentials when we first met in New
18:11York City in the fall of 1985 he drove a
18:16Mercedes 190 he then went astray for a
18:21few years driving an american-made
18:23pickup truck but ultimately returned to
18:27the fold by driving a Mini Cooper
18:29produced by BMW but above all it was
18:36Murray who taught me never to trust
18:38official history invariably written by
18:42the victors but to conduct all
18:45historical research instead like a
18:48detective investigating a crime always
18:52first and foremost and as a first
18:55approximation follow the money in search
18:58of a motive
18:59who is to gain whether in terms of money
19:03real estate or sheer power from this
19:06measure or that in most cases answering
19:11this question will lead you directly to
19:14the very actor or group of actors
19:16responsible for the measure or policy
19:19under consideration simple as it is to
19:23ask this question however it is much
19:26more difficult and requires often
19:28arduous research to answer it and to
19:32unearth from under a huge smokescreen of
19:36seemingly high-minded rhetoric and pious
19:40propaganda the hard facts
19:43and indicators the money flows and the
19:47welfare games in order to actually prove
19:50a crime and to identify and out its
19:54perpetrators Murray was a master in this
19:57and that at a time when you did not have
20:00access to computers the internet and
20:04search machines such as Google
20:07introduces detectives work I as I
20:11learned from Murray you must go beyond
20:14official documents the mainstream media
20:17the big and famous names the academic
20:21stars and the prestigious journals in
20:23short everything and everyone deemed
20:27respectable and politically correct
20:29you must also and in particular pay
20:32attention to the work of outsiders
20:35extremists and outcasts that is to diss
20:39respectable or deplorable people and
20:43obscure publication outlets that you are
20:46supposed to ignore or not even know
20:49about to this day I have heeded and
20:53indeed relished following this advice
20:56anyone who could see my list of
20:59bookmarks of frequently visited websites
21:02would likely be surprised and any
21:05establishment Aryan or leftist in
21:08particular would likely be shocked and
21:11shudder in disgust
21:23now with this general perspective and
21:26outlook on things
21:28revisionists such as Murray and then in
21:31his footsteps also myself are regularly
21:35charged contemptuously as some nutty
21:38conspiracy theorists to this charge
21:42Murray would typically respond first put
21:46bluntly and sarcastically even if I were
21:50a certified paranoid this cannot be
21:53taken as proof that no one was actually
21:56after you and your money after all and
21:59second and more systematically
22:03conspiracies are of course less likely
22:05of the large as a number of supposed
22:08conspirators also it is naive to assume
22:11the existence of just one big orc
22:14encompassing conspiracy run by one
22:18all-powerful group of conspirators but
22:21conspiracies often rival or even
22:25contradictory conspiracies that is
22:28confidential efforts of various groups
22:31of people acting in concert in the
22:34pursuit of some gum common goal are
22:37indeed an ever-present feature of social
22:40reality as any action such conspiracies
22:44can succeed or they can fail and can
22:47lead to consequences that were
22:49unintended by the conspirators but
22:52realistically speaking most if not all
22:56historical events are more or less
22:59exactly what some identifiable people or
23:02a group of people acting in concert
23:05intended them to be indeed to assume the
23:09opposite is to assume incredibly that
23:13history is nothing but a sequence of
23:15unintelligible
23:17events and accidents moreover in
23:21learning from Murray about the necessity
23:23of complementing Australia a and C or E
23:27with revisionist history so as to gain a
23:31complete realistic picture of the world
23:35worldly Affairs I also received constant
23:38training from him in the art of prudent
23:41and judicious judgment and evaluation of
23:44people actions and events pure Theory
23:49allows us to make rasa kriyakid
23:52judgments of true or false
23:55right who are wrong and effective
23:58leading to the goal intended or
23:59ineffective but many if not most actions
24:04and events provoking or eliciting our
24:07judgment do not fall into the category
24:11of matters that can be evaluated in this
24:14simple yes or no matter we are
24:18surrounded or better encircled by a
24:21class of people politicians and state
24:23agents that day in and day out renders
24:28and enforces decisions that are systemic
24:31that is systematically impact and affect
24:34our property and consequently our entire
24:37conduct of life without our consent and
24:41against our explicit protestation we are
24:45confronted by an elite of rulers and
24:48confronted with politicians and
24:50political decisions and our judgment
24:53concerns the evaluation of at best
24:56second bests the question is not true or
25:00false right or wrong effective or
25:04ineffective Raza it is this given that
25:07political decisions are per se false
25:10wrong and ineffective which of these
25:13decisions is less false wrong and
25:16effective in comparatively closer to the
25:19truth the right and the good and which
25:22person represents a lesser evil or a
25:25greater one than another such questions
25:29do not allow for a scientific answer
25:32because answering them involves the
25:35comparative evaluation of countless
25:39immeasurable and incommensurable
25:41variables and in any case newly
25:45discovered facts about the past or
25:47future developments
25:49may well reveal any such judgment as
25:51mistaken but the answer is also not
25:55arbitrary what is true right and
25:58effective is given as fixed points and
26:02reasons must be supplied was are based
26:05on logic or empirical evidence for
26:08locating various second bests as closer
26:12or more distant to such points raza
26:17judgment making in matters such as these
26:20is a difficult art much like
26:23entrepreneurship is not a science but an
26:26art and just as some people are good at
26:30enterpreneurship and others bad
26:33indicated by monetary profits or losses
26:36and so are some people good at judging
26:39political events and actors and others
26:42bad gaining or losing in refutation as
26:48wise or prudent judges now Murray was of
26:53course not unfailing in his judgments
26:55during the late 1960s and early 1970s
26:59for instance he misjudged the anti-war
27:02stand of the new left as more principled
27:06than as actually was something that he
27:09afterwards readily admitted as a mistake
27:12and I know of at least one rather
27:15personal case where Joey’s judgment was
27:18better and more on the mark than his but
27:22this notwithstanding I have not
27:24encountered any one of sounder and
27:27supplicant Lee vindicated judgment than
27:31Murray now is this I want to come to a
27:34second major lesson I learned during my
27:36long association with Murray well the
27:39first lesson in revisionism concerned
27:43matters of practice and method the
27:46second lesson concerned an existential
27:49matter before I met Marie I knew of
27:53course that he was a radical outsider in
27:57a predominantly leftist liberal academia
28:00and I expected
28:02I was willing to accept for myself that
28:05this would involve some sacrifices that
28:08is that one would have to pay a price
28:10for being a rose partying not only but
28:14also in terms of money but I was quite
28:17surprised to realize how high this price
28:20loss I knew that Brooklyn Polytechnic
28:25was not a prestigious university yet I
28:28expected Marie to occupy their a
28:31comfortable well-paying post moreover at
28:35the time I still fancied the United
28:38States as Sebastian and bull var of free
28:42enterprise and consequently expected
28:45that Marie as a foremost intellectual
28:48champion of capitalism and the
28:50personified anti Caesars of Marx would
28:54be held in high esteem if not in
28:57academia then certainly outside of it in
29:00the world of Commerce and business and
29:03accordingly be rewarded with a certain
29:06degree of affluence in fact at Brooklyn
29:12Polytechnic Murray occupied a small
29:16grungy and windowless office that he had
29:20to share was a history professor in
29:23Germany even research assistants enjoyed
29:26more comfortable surroundings not to
29:29speak of full professors Murray ranked
29:32among the lowest paid full professors at
29:35his school indeed my German National
29:38Science Foundation grant at the time a
29:41heisenberg scholarship turned out to be
29:45considerably higher than maurice
29:46university salary something that i was
29:49too ashamed to reveal to him after i had
29:52discovered it and Marie’s apartment in
29:56Manhattan large and filled to the
29:59ceiling with books was dark and rundown
30:03certainly nothing like the penthouse
30:06that I had imagined him to occupy now
30:10this situation improved significantly
30:13with his move in 1986
30:16at the age of 62 Las Vegas and UNLV
30:21while my salary went down there as
30:23compared to my previous compensation
30:26Marie’s went sharply up but was still
30:29well below 100 K and he would could
30:34afford to buy a roomy but Spartan house
30:37even as a holder of an endowed chair at
30:41UNLV however Murray did not have command
30:44of any research assistants or a personal
30:48secretary yet Murray never complained or
30:51showed any bitterness or signs of envy
30:55but always plugged along joyfully and
30:58pushed ahead instead with his writings
31:01this was a hard lesson for me to learn
31:04and I’m still having difficulties
31:06following it at times Apple both joy and
31:13Murray once told me laughingly how at
31:17the time when they were still dating
31:19both had expected the other to be a good
31:23catch Joey Joey because Murray was
31:28Jewish and Murray because Joey was
31:31Gentile only to then find out that they
31:37were both wrong in their expectation
31:42moreover despite his towering
31:45achievements as an intellectual champion
31:47of free market capitalism Murray never
31:50won any prizes awards or honors to speak
31:54of that he did not win a nobel prize in
31:58economics was not surprising after all
32:00the great Mises also did not win it but
32:04in the US alone they existed existed
32:07dozens of institutions sink tanks
32:10foundations business associations
32:12research centers and universities that
32:15professed their dedication to free
32:18markets and liberty and yet none of them
32:21ever awarded Murray any significant
32:24price or honorary award all the wild
32:28they showered people with money and
32:30awards who had done little more than to
32:33suggest daringly some incremental reform
32:37such as let’s say lowering the marginal
32:41tax rate from thirty five to thirty
32:43percent were cutting or cutting the
32:46budget of the EPA by some percentage
32:49points or who had simply expressed their
32:52personal love of freedom and free
32:55enterprise often loudly and emphatically
32:59enough none of this fazed Murray in the
33:03slightest
33:04indeed he expected nothing else for
33:07reasons that I still had to learn what
33:11Murray realized and I still had to learn
33:14was that the most was was sephorus
33:17and ferocious rejection in opposition to
33:20Australia Bert Arianism would not come
33:23from the traditional socialist left but
33:26razza from these very self-proclaimed
33:30anti-socialist Pro minimal State Pro
33:33private enterprise and pro freedom
33:36outfits and their intellectual
33:38mouthpieces and above all from what has
33:41become known as the Beltway libertarians
33:44they simp
33:53they simply could not stomach the fact
33:56that Marie had demonstrated was plain
33:58logic that their doctrines were nothing
34:01but inconsistent intellectual claptrap
34:04and that they were all to use Mises
34:08verdict Vasavi Milton Friedman and his
34:11company a bunch of socialists
34:22socialists notwithstanding of course
34:24their vehement protest ations to the
34:26contrary for as Murray argued once you
34:30admit that the existence of a state any
34:33state defined as a territorial
34:36monopolist of ultimate decision-making
34:38in every case of conflict including
34:40conflicts involving the state itself
34:43then all private property had been
34:46effectively abolished even if it
34:49remained provisionally as a state grant
34:53nominally private and all that had been
34:57replaced instead by a system of
34:59collective or as a state property state
35:02any state means socialism defined as the
35:07collective ownership of factors of
35:09production the institution of a state is
35:13praxeological II incompatible with
35:15private property and private property
35:18based enterprise
35:26it is it is the very antithesis of
35:29private property in any proponent of
35:32private property and private enterprise
35:34and must as a matter of logic be an
35:37anarchist in this regard as in many
35:40others Murray was unwilling to
35:42compromise or intransigent as his
35:46detractors would say because in theory
35:49in thinking compromise is impermissible
35:53in everyday life compromise is a
35:56permanent and ubiquitous feature of
35:59course but in theory compromise is the
36:02ultimate sin a strict and absolute no-no
36:06it is not permissible for instance to
36:10recoup remise between the two
36:12incompatible propositions that one plus
36:14one equals two or that one plus one
36:17equals three and except that it is to
36:200.5 either some proposition is true or
36:24it is false there can be no meeting in
36:27the middle of truth and falsehood
36:29now here regarding Murray’s
36:32uncompromising radicalism a little
36:35anecdote told by Ralph Reich over seems
36:38apropos to court Ralph Murray was
36:43someone special I recognized that fact
36:46the first night I met him it was after
36:50the Mises seminar a buddy of mine and I
36:54had been invited to attend and
36:56afterwards Murray suggested we have
36:59coffee and talk my friend and I were
37:03dazzled by the great Mises and Murray
37:06naturally was pleased to see our
37:09enthusiasm he assured us that Mises was
37:13at least the greatest economy of the
37:15century if not the whole history of the
37:18economic sort as far as politics went
37:21though Murray said lowering his voice
37:25conspiratorial II well when it comes to
37:28politics
37:29some of us consider Mises a member of
37:32the non-communist left
37:38[Applause]
37:39and Ralph concludes this by saying yes
37:45it was easy to see we had met someone
37:48very special
37:53unlike Marie quite a few individuals who
37:58had learned essentially everything they
38:00ever knew from Marie in particular from
38:03his man economy and state quite a few
38:06people were willing to make such
38:08intellectual compromises and they were
38:11richly rewarded for their intellectual
38:14flexibility and tolerance but that was
38:17not Marie and consequently he was in is
38:21still ignored excluded or denounced by
38:25the Chieftains of the limited limited
38:27government free market industry and he
38:31was essentially left without any
38:33institutional support as a lone fighter
38:36until the arrival of Lew Rockwell and
38:39the Mises Institute I experienced this
38:43rose bart phobia second handedly if you
38:46will for as soon as word had gotten out
38:50that the new German arrival was Marie’s
38:53boy and also appeared Raza intransigent
38:57I found myself immediately placed on the
39:00same black lists with him thus I had
39:03quickly learned a first important
39:05real-life lesson of what it means to be
39:08a rose bargain you will be blackballed
39:12another lesson was in humility Joe
39:17Salerno talked about that love it I have
39:19to add a few things
39:21Marie wah had a huge library and read
39:25and digested an enormous amount of
39:28literature and was consequently a humble
39:31man he was always reluctant and highly
39:35skeptical to assume or recognize any
39:38originality claims originality claims he
39:42knew are made most frequently by people
39:46with teeny libraries and little reading
39:50indistinct contrast Murray was highly
39:54generous in giving credit to others and
39:56he was equally generous in giving advice
39:59to anyone asking indeed on almost any
40:03conceivable subject he was prepared on
40:06the top of his head to provide you with
40:09an extensive bibliography as well he
40:13encouraged any sign of productivity even
40:16among his lowliest students while I was
40:21why I always try to follow this example
40:23I could not bring myself to go quite as
40:27far as Murray did because I thought and
40:30still think that Murray’s humility was
40:32excessive that he was humble almost to a
40:36fault his students at Brooklyn
40:39Polytechnic for instance mostly
40:41engineering majors or as Murray
40:44described Mises students at NYU
40:47packaging majors they had they had no
40:51idea who he was because he never
40:54mentioned his own works they were
40:56genuinely surprised to find out from me
40:59who they are jolly professor was when I
41:03substituted teaching Murray’s class
41:05while he was out of town and you and our
41:09visa situation was not much different
41:12while I actively promoted him as his
41:15unofficial PR agent Murray continued in
41:19his self-deprecation although he had
41:22written on almost any imaginable subject
41:25in the social sciences he would when he
41:28suggested or assigned term papers to his
41:31students mention his own related
41:34writings if at all only as some sort of
41:37afterthought or upon specific requests
41:40yet Murray’s extreme modesty had also
41:44another unfortunate effect when we moved
41:48to Las Vegas in 1986 we had expected to
41:52turn UNLV into a bastion of Austrian
41:55economics at the time you and Elvis
41:59basketball team the running rebels under
42:02coach Jerry
42:03our canyon were a national powerhouse
42:06always slightly scandalous but
42:09impossible to overlook now we had hoped
42:12to become the Runnin Rebels of economics
42:15at UNLV several students had transferred
42:20and enrolled at the University in
42:23anticipation of such a development but
42:26these hopes were quickly disappointed
42:28already at our arrival at UNLV the
42:33composition of the Economics Department
42:35has significantly changed and then
42:38majority rule democracy sent in to
42:42balance the Austrian influence only one
42:45year later the department majority
42:47decided against our position to hire a
42:51no-name Marxist I urged Murray to use
42:55his position and reputation to interfere
42:58with the university’s high ups and
43:01prevent his appointment except for Jerry
43:05Tarkanian Murray was the only
43:07nationalized
43:08record nationally recognized person at
43:11UNLV he helped the only endowed chair at
43:14the University we knew the university’s
43:17president and provost socially and were
43:21on cordial terms with both of them
43:23accordingly I believed that there was a
43:26realistic chance to overturn the
43:28department’s decision but I could not
43:31persuade Murray of his own powers that I
43:34thought he clearly had after this missed
43:37opportunity MERIS became worse the
43:40department continued to hire anyone but
43:43an Austrian or Austrian sympathizer our
43:46students were maltreated and
43:48discriminated against the department and
43:51the Dean of the Business College denied
43:53me tenure which decision was overruled
43:56by the university’s provost and
43:58president not least because of massive
44:01student protests and the intervention of
44:04several university donors the department
44:07chairman wrote an outrageous nasty and
44:10insulting annual evaluation of Murray’s
44:13professorial perform
44:16upon which the university administration
44:18forced the Chairman to resigned from his
44:21position as a consequence a second
44:24chance for us arose to turn metas around
44:27plans were developed and were discussed
44:30with a Provost to split the department
44:33and establish a separate economics
44:35department in the College of Liberal
44:37Arts this time Murray became involved
44:40but the initial momentum to our
44:43advantage had been lost in the meantime
44:46and after the first signs of resistance
44:49Murray quickly resigned and gave up he
44:52was not willing to take off his gloves
44:54and I was a session Asst movement
44:57project soon fizzled out in defeat only
45:03to quickly finish our UNLV saga after
45:07Murray’s death in 1995 I continued
45:10working at UNLV for another decade in an
45:13increasingly hostile environment the
45:16once protective university
45:18administration had changed and I felt
45:20ever more unappreciated and out of place
45:23even my great popularity among students
45:26was used against me as proof of the
45:29great danger emanating from my teaching
45:32in 2004 many of you have heard this I
45:37became embroiled in a scandal in a
45:40lecture I had to hypothetically
45:42suggested that homosexuals on average
45:44and owing to their characteristic lack
45:47of children had a comparatively higher
45:50degree of time preference it is of
45:52present orientation a crybaby student
45:55complained in the
46:05and the university’s affirmative action
46:08commissar immediately as if he had only
46:10waited for this opportunity initiated
46:13official proceedings against me
46:15threatening severe punitive measures if
46:18I were not to instantly and publicly
46:21recant and apologize intransigent
46:25as I was I refused to do so
46:36and I must say I’m quite certain that it
46:39was only the steadfast refusal of mine
46:42to beg for forgiveness that after a full
46:46year of administrative harassment I
46:49ultimately emerged victorious from this
46:52battle with the sought police and the
46:54university administration and the
46:58university administration suffered an
47:00embarrassing defeat a year later then I
47:03resigned from my position and left UNLV
47:06and the US for good now coming back to
47:08Murray
47:09naturally I was disappointed about the
47:12development at UNLV but they did not
47:15have the slightest effect on our
47:16continued cooperation
47:18maybe Murray had been right and more
47:21realistic all along and it was I who had
47:24suffered from too much useful optimism
47:26who knows and in any case there was one
47:30more important lesson about the larger
47:33scheme of things that I still had to
47:35learn whereas most people tend to become
47:39milder and more tolerant in their views
47:42si grow older Murray grew increasingly
47:45more radical and less tolerant over time
47:50not in his personal dealings as I
47:53already emphasized in this regard Murray
47:56was and remain to the end a softy but in
48:00his speeches and in his writings this
48:03radicalization in increasing
48:05intransigence came in response to
48:09developments in the world of u.s.
48:11politics at large and in particular was
48:14in the limited government free market
48:16industry and among the so called
48:18libertarians assembled around Washington
48:21DC’s Beltway there everywhere a slow yet
48:26systematic drift towards the left and
48:28leftist ideas could be observed adrift
48:32that ever since up to this day has only
48:35further gained in momentum and grown in
48:39strengths constantly new rights more
48:42discovered and adopted in particular
48:45also by so-called libertarians human
48:48rights and civil rights
48:50woman rights and gay rights the right
48:53not to be discriminated against the
48:56right to free and unrestricted
48:57immigration the right to a free lunch
49:00and free health care and the right to be
49:03free of unpleasant speech and sought
49:06Laurie demolished all of this allegedly
49:09humanitarian or to use a German word
49:13would mention talk as intellectual
49:16rubbish and in demonstrating that none
49:19of these supposed rights were compatible
49:22with private property rights and that as
49:25libertarians above all people should
49:28know only private property rights that
49:31is the right of every person in the
49:34ownership of his physical body and the
49:37ownership of all external objects justly
49:40peacefully acquired by him can be
49:43argumentatively
49:44defended as universal and composable
49:47human rights
49:49everything except private property
49:51rights then Murray demonstrate again and
49:54again a phony none Universal izybelle
49:58every call for human rights others and
50:01private property rights is ultimately
50:04motivated by egalitarianism and as such
50:07represents a revolt against nature
50:10moreover
50:13[Music]
50:19moreover Marie moved still further to
50:22the right in accordance with Eric Phan

Hoppe’s realistic libertarianism and Rothbard’s right-wing populist approach

By Anarcho-Viking

Hoppe filled the void after Rothbard

When Prof. Hans-Hermann Hoppe in mid September 2017, took the stage at the Hotel Karia Princess, in Bodrum, Turkey, it was for the twelfth annual meeting of the Property and Freedom Society (PFS). Prof. Hoppe’s demeanor is calm, but yet determined as he addresses the room of PFS members. The topic for the day: Libertarianism and the Alt Right. Hoppe has throughout the years made it pretty clear that he has no patience for political correctness, just like his former mentor and associate, Prof. Murray N. Rothbard. Even though Rothbard passed away over 22 years ago as of today, his spirit was alive and well in the room, and channeled through Hoppe’s uncensored rhetoric. Prof. Hoppe’s academic aura could be interpreted as harsh, and his language as blunt when compared to the more amicable and outgoing style of Murray Rothbard. Nonetheless, there is nobody as Rothbardian as Hans-Hermann Hoppe, and he is the rightful heir of the Austro-libertarian torch holder position.

Murray N. Rothbard

A populist program

In January of 1992, Rothbard wrote a brief, yet notorious un-PC essay, on what he believed would be the best approach to advance libertarianism in a very non-libertarian friendly society. He was trying to come up with the best possible plan involving the segments of people who would be more likely to embrace the libertarian message, strictly concerning property rights. Rothbard, who had rolled up his sleeves, and sought to create coalitions across the ideological spectrum, even with the new left during the 1960, due to their initial credibility to be the new anti war movement, had now switched his attention to involve a right-wing populist approach. In Rothbard’s short essay, titled Right-Wing Populism, Rothbard explains to the readers what right-wing populism is in order to understand the movement better, and hence facilitate the initiation of a dialogue with individuals who identify as right-wing populists. Rothbard finally goes through the points, one by one, of what a right-wing populist program looks like, and why it should be possible for libertarians to create coalitions with groups of individuals who endorse such a program.

Bringing back Rothbard’s ideas to the table

In Turkey, Hans-Hermann Hoppe brought back Rothbard’s strategic advice into the libertarian limelight in front of a crowd who was receptive, but not as enthusiastic as the audience at the Corax Conference in Malta just a few months earlier, where he delivered the exact same speech. Hoppe points out in his speech how the “Hayekian strategy for social change”, a model of influencing the elites in the political class, in academia, and in the mainstream media, and then await the trickle down effect, “must be considered fundamentally unrealistic” for spreading the correct libertarian message. Rothbard states the exact same thing in his essay when suggests that “the ruling elite benefits from the current system” of the status quo, and therefore no significant change is to be expected from the top among the elites down to the masses. Thus, both Rothbard and Hoppe recognize that libertarian ideas are not welcome in the realm of academia or media. On the contrary, they are met with a greater and greater degree of hostility, every day. Furthermore, we have witnessed what happens to libertarian leaning candidates in politics once they assume a position in office. They either, sell out and become part of the problem, or they get ostracized, marginalized, and most of the time ignored, if they choose to hold on to their principles.

Focusing on the disenfranchised

Hoppe recognizes this as an undisputable historical fact when he claims that the libertarian strategic approach needs to be a populist one. In other words, Hoppe says, the “libertarians must short-circuit the dominant intellectual elites, and address the masses directly” in order to arouse the contempt for the ruling elites within the most disenfranchised group of people in society, and awaken their disdain for the class of ruling elites. Rothbard was also very clear when mentioning that, “ripping the mask off elites is ‘negative campaigning’ at its finest and most fundamental”, and to make this happen, Rothbard further suggests, libertarians ought to focus their attention on the “groups who are the most oppressed and who also have the most social leverage”. Given the limited amount of resources for outreach, and knowing what it takes to convert people to the libertarian message, I think it is safe to say that we need to focus primarily on specific subdivisions of demographics in society. Hoppe and Rothbard have both proposed a strategy for targeting the most victimized groups; that is, those who do not have any protective status label accorded by the state, and those who are most likely to be taxpayers as opposed to tax consumers. From a libertarian perspective then, considering property rights to be the only existing legitimate rights, then anyone who has protective status in form of affirmative action, and other non discrimination laws implemented by the state, is the person who on average will be the least likely to support our cause.

Identifying likely supporters

In his speech, Hoppe specifies which group he believes will be the most likely supporter of the libertarian creed: Bourgeoisie, married, heterosexual, Christian couples, with children, who also happen to be taxpayers. First and foremost, if you are Caucasian of European ancestry, then you are not part of any protected class of people as determined by the state. It follows then, according to the egalitarian leftist narrative, that if you are not part of any protected group, then you must be part of the oppressing group. Why? Because if other groups need to have a protected label on them then there must be a group of predators, or else no protection status would be needed and granted by the state’s ruling elites. This means that Christian, white, heterosexual males, have been unjustly labeled as the oppressing class, and are therefore bound to be the most exploited group of individuals in society. However, as Hoppe correctly identifies, “it would be a serious strategic error to make whiteness the exclusive criteria on which to base one’s strategic decisions”, which some factions of the alt right have done, reprehensibly. Libertarians must recognize that white men are the people who make up the ruling elites within the state apparatus, and who have awarded all the legal privileges to different groups of the population via coercive affirmative action legislation. Hoppe accurately indicates this group of white men in control of governments, as perhaps the biggest problem that libertarians face. Nevertheless, if it so happens that the majority of taxpaying, married, heterosexual, Christian couples, with children, happen to be white, then so be it. It is not the ethnicity, but rather the cultural life style that matters in this case, according to Hoppe. This must remain a strategy of colorblindness, as Hoppe wisely recommends, although we can, and should expect backing primarily from the afore-mentioned demographic.

Strategy matters

We finally arrive at the libertarian strategy that Hoppe laid out, which bares striking resemblance with Rothbard’s right-wing populist program from 1992. Hoppe’s strategy is a ten-point strategy:

1) Stop all mass immigration

This does not mean that we need to stop all immigration, but rather that immigration should occur exclusively by consent of private property owners, i.e., by invitation and work contract, and similar agreements of that nature only. Property owners are free to discriminate against anyone, at any time, for any reason. So, a potential invitee will need to demonstrate proof of good neighborliness in addition to a productive skill set, and a moral character that aligns with the community in which the immigrant will settle. This will lead to immigration bias with respect to some parts of the world, but this does not mean that there will be exclusively immigrants from only one part of the world. It is after all character, value system, cultural affinity, and productivity that count, and not the color of one’s skin. This highly selective approach to immigration is not at odds with libertarianism in any way. Just because there are no distinct private borders as would be the case in a free society, it does not follow that public property has no borders. For who owns the public property if not the exploited taxpayers of the given territory? From this perspective we can easily argue that the open border policy suggested by the “liberalala libertarians”, is indeed an attack on private property. I think the border topic is certainly something that can be discussed further, and I have great sympathy for open border advocates such as Larken Rose and Robert Higgs. But, to dismiss Hoppe’s position, as “fascist” is nothing but dishonest and ludicrous.

2) Stop attacking and killing people in foreign countries

Every honest libertarian will agree to this, so there is no controversy here. We will even have support from Jeffrey “Cucker” et al. On this initiative Rothbard calls for an America first foreign policy in which the US government stops “supporting bums abroad”, quits all foreign aid, and “all the globaloney”. Somehow the America first policy has been met with criticism, and called “racist” as well as other smear terms. Not only by the left-liberals, but also by the “liberalala libertarians” as Hoppe calls the “left libertarians” in his PFS speech. Perhaps such people would be happier if we renamed America first to America fifth, or 34th, or 63rd. Perhaps we should ask them what number they want to assign to America in order to be satisfied? Of course, needless to say, it would be even more preferable to say, New York first, or Florida first, or Manhattan first, or Brooklyn first. The smaller the better, but America first is a good start, and it should not be difficult for libertarians to get behind this initiative given our strong opposition to globalism, and our deep support for secession.

3) Defund the ruling elites and their intellectual bodyguards

Here Hoppe stresses the importance of exposing the “bribes and hush monies received by the ruling elites”, lobbyists, crony capitalists, and politicians in general. Hoppe encourages the publication of the corruption that goes on within the state apparatus at the expense of the exploited taxpayers.

4) End the Fed

Rothbard also calls for the abolishment of the fed and calls it an “organized cartel of banksters, who are ripping off the public.” This point is hardly controversial at all, and it is scarcely debatable whether or not libertarians should support the complete abolition of the Federal Reserve Bank. The Fed is an institution created by the state and that has been granted the monopoly of counterfeiting the coin at a very large scale.

5) Abolish all affirmative action laws and non-discrimination laws

We have addressed this issue above, but I will mention again that, there are no rights other than property rights. This means that any protective status awarded to some group of people in society, takes away the freedom from property owners to associate and disassociate. It is unethical, and an assault on private property to force individuals or a group of individuals to associate with someone with whom they do not wish to associate. It follows then, that in order to avoid physical clashes, conflicts, and tension between distinct groups of people, it is essential to be free to include or exclude at will in adherence with property rights. Voluntary segregation and voluntary integration.

6) Crush the “anti-fascist” mob

While the ANTIFA is a new phenomenon in America, Rothbard’s similar point was to take back the streets, and crush the criminals. Rothbard calls for an approach where “cops must be unleashed and administer instant punishment”, which in turn has led to huge controversy among “liberalala libertarians”, and the sequential smearing campaign against Murray Rothbard. It might would have helped just finishing the sentence which is somewhat taken out of context in this case. Rothbard goes on by saying that, cops must be “subject of course to liability when they are in error”. We all understand that the state police force is funded coercively and illegitimately by the means of taxation, but that should not stop them from intervening when there are actual crimes against person or property. The question that Hoppe asks is, if the people, who object to the police crushing the “anti-fascist” mob, also object to the state police arresting murderers, robbers, and rapists? There are real crimes against person or property, and in a libertarian social order such criminals would be arrested and convicted. Here again, I do not see what the real controversy is, and what the objection is to the state police acting against legitimate crimes? After all, we are coerced, under the threat of violence to fund the state police. The least we can ask for is for them to at least sometimes carry out legitimate operations against real criminals, especially when it comes to pulverizing the “anti-fascist” mob.

7) Crush the street criminals and gangs

This point is merely a derivative of point number six above, and needs no further explanation, except one added detail: It is of great necessity to make sure that ordinary non-violent citizens have the ability to arm themselves, and to take matters into their own hands if needed. If the state police is incapable of preventing crimes, as it so often is, libertarians and other right-wing populists must be armed to defend themselves, their families, and their communities. Taking the streets back from thugs, criminals and violent street gangs and mobs is necessary in order to maintain a peaceful social order.

8) Get rid of all welfare parasites and bums

This should also be a no brainer for any honest libertarian. To keep an underclass on the public dole and make it dependent on the welfare state requires extortion (taxation) of the productive class. This should be considered nothing less than robbery and theft. This segment of the population will be the most reliable support for carrying out and expanding the welfare state, and hence grow the parasitic underclass. Rothbard also advocated this exact same point of getting “rid of the underclass rule by abolishing the welfare system”. High time-preference and low impulse control should not be subsidized and encouraged, but rather discouraged and looked down upon.

9) Get the state out of education

Most libertarians would need very little convincing even with this issue. Public education has become the new American religion. It is in state funded public schools the brain washing begins, from the civic and social science teacher in elementary school, to the higher ups in academia and university settings. The purpose of state funded education is for the state to mold the mind of the children from an early age, and turn them into obeying robots and good state servants, and not free thinkers as they claim. Defunding all public education is an initiative that libertarians should get behind and support with little to no thinking.

10) Do not put any trust in politics or political parties

Hoppe states that “it is the ultimate libertarian goal to put an end to all politics”, and turn to a complete private law society. The main reason libertarians should not be putting any trust into politics, is because of the identified short comings of the so called “Hayekian strategy”. Just as we are not welcome in academia and mainstream media, libertarian ideas are met with contempt by the ruling elites.

The above ten-point program for libertarian social change is logical, realistic and hardly controversial at all. If you listened to Hoppe’s speech, and read this article, your knee jerk reaction should not be “fascism”, or “racism”, but rather realism. There is nothing even faintly resembling fascism in Hoppe’s libertarianism. Finally, for everyone who calls Hans-Hermann Hoppe a statist based on these observations, perhaps it would be useful to listen to the first ten minutes of the speech. You will hear him loud and clear assert that one cannot be a libertarian or merely a fake libertarian if one supports the existence of a state, any state at all. He affirms that one has to be a proponent of an anarcho-capitalist society or a proponent of a private law society.

The HHH controversy is out of control. I’m posting this for the benefit of the readers of this site, to help clarify things.

The precise comments being debated now among libertarians appeared in his 2001 book “Democracy: The God That Failed,” and he subsequently defended the comments in his article “My Battle With The Thought Police”:

“In my book Democracy, The God That Failed I not only defend the right to discrimination as implied in the right to private property, but I also emphasize the necessity of discrimination in maintaining a free society and explain its importance as a civilizing factor. In particular, the book also contains a few sentences about the importance, under clearly stated circumstances, of discriminating against communists, democrats, and habitual advocates of alternative, non-family centered lifestyles, including homosexuals.

For instance, on p. 218, I wrote ‘in a covenant concluded among proprietors and community tenants for the purpose of protecting their private property, … no one is permitted to advocate ideas contrary to the very purpose of the covenant … such as democracy and communism.’ ‘Likewise, in a covenant founded for the purpose of protecting family and kin, there can be no tolerance toward those habitually promoting lifestyles incompatible with this goal. … [violators] will have to be physically removed from society.’

In its proper context these statements are hardly more offensive than saying that the Catholic Church should excommunicate those violating its fundamental precepts or that a nudist colony should expel those insisting on wearing bathing suits. However, if you take the statements out of context and omit the condition: in a covenant… then they appear to advocate a violation of rights.

My praise of discrimination was part of a frontal attack against what is sometimes called left-libertarianism–against the politics that equates liberty with libertinism, multiculturalism, and so-called civil rights as opposed to existence and enforcement of private-property rights. In retaliation, to discredit me as a ‘fascist,’ a ‘racist,’ a ‘bigot,’ etc., the left-libertarian smear-bund has routinely distorted my views by quoting the above passages out of context.”

Stephan Kinsella also discusses this:

Hoppe on Covenant Communities and Advocates of Alternative Lifestyles

Cliff’s notes from the Kinsella piece:

Also from Democracy:

“To avoid any misunderstanding, it might be useful to point out that the predicted rise in discrimination in a purely libertarian world does not imply that the form and extent of discrimination will be the same or similar everywhere. To the contrary, a libertarian world could and likely would be one with a great variety of locally separated communities engaging distinctly different and far-reaching discrimination.”

And, he quotes Rothbard:

“With every locale and neighborhood owned by private firms, corporations, or contractual communities, true diversity would reign, in accordance with the preferences of each community. Some neighborhoods would be ethnically or economically diverse, while others would be ethnically or economically homogeneous. Some localities would permit pornography or prostitution or drugs or abortion, others would prohibit any or all of them. The prohibitions would not be state imposed, but would simply be requirements for residence or use of some person’s or community’s land area.”

Recently, Hans-Hermann Hoppe gave a speech. It was an important speech. Not because it covered anything new, unraveled a mystery of economic insight he had never explained before, or because he had an amazing power point.

What was great about the speech was that it was a condensed, easily understandable, and brief explanation of how and what libertarianism is, and what are a few bad ideas (including the alt-rights views), and some strategies for Libertarian/Anarcho-Capitialism going forward.

Hans-Hermann Hoppe, Libertarianism and the “Alt-Right” (PFS 2017) – Video

Now like Hoppe or not, the most important point of his entire speech was overlooked by almost all who listened (or didn’t listen but pretended to have an opinion of his speech regardless).

The most important part of this speech was that he is proposing ideas which push the understood boundaries of libertarianism/anarcho-capitalism. Hoppe is amongst the few people who is not debating with people over the use of a term, the political flavor of the year, or a presidential election, or whatever minor and insignificant prattle holding down most libertarian infighting.

Whether you believe Hoppe is correct or incorrect is secondary to whether you are going to take the ball and run to the next evolution of Libertarian/AnCap philosophy or not. If you can logically show Hoppe to be wrong, in the most scientific of ways, I pray that you can prove it logically in a paper. If you can show him to be correct, I pray you can prove it logically in a paper as well. But not by silly arguing and petty insults.

I remember when I was in my teens and I was denouncing Marx (I was a statist back then but a Jefferson Statists so at least I had that). But I had not read Marx. It was to my everlasting shame that I denounced something I knew nothing about. I never did an ounce of reading of the man’s work. It was wrong of me to assume. While I was correct in my assumed conclusion that he was wrong, I did so only because of assumptions and not research. Now that I’m an economist, I know the HOW and WHY he was incorrect (thanks in part to Mises University).

But I implore you, to watch the video. Hoppe has written several books, been a professor of Economics, which he is a PhD in, and has many lectures you can see on YouTube. But I really recommend you watch this one.

And if you’re so inclined: prove your counterpoint in a constructive, philosophical manner so we can move the evolution of Libertarian/Anarcho-Capitalism forward.

Leave the non-constructive fighting to the one-party political system and lost souls.

Ladies and gentlemen. It’s here! HHH’s speech at the PFS recently in Turkey.

Hans Hermann Hoppe; the greatest libertarian thinker of our time delivers a greatly anticipated and striking speech on the Alt Right, Libertarianism, and society’s issues as a whole and offering a strategic social solution, also while identifying many issues even amongst libertarians themselves.

We’ve posted a few articles on the site recently to help clarify some of the confusion on his thought.  Well, let’s just say Hoppe is perfectly capable of defending himself, so to speak.

The page listing those articles can be found here:

00:37
and different position that it has lost
00:40
all its meaning and become an empty
00:43
nondescript label in the same fate I
00:47
have here has now increasingly also
00:51
increasingly threatens the term
00:53
libertarian in libertarianism that was
00:56
invented to regain some of the
00:59
conceptual precision that was lost with
01:02
the demise of the terms liberal and
01:05
liberalism however the history of modern
01:09
libertarianism is still quite young
01:12
it began actually in Murray Ross parts
01:15
living room and found its first quasi
01:18
canonical expression in his book for a
01:22
new Liberty a libertarian manifesto this
01:25
was published in 1973 and it but the
01:32
Terra libertarian movement included
01:34
initially no more than about 10 people
01:36
fitting in Moorea Moorea sports living
01:39
room and because of the young young age
01:45
of libertarian I’m hopeful and not yet
01:49
willing to give up the term as it has
01:54
been defined and explained by Ross Park
01:58
with unrivaled clarity and precision
02:01
notwithstanding the meanwhile countless
02:05
attempts of so-called libertarians to
02:08
muddy the water and miss appropriate a
02:11
good name of libertarianism for
02:13
something entirely different the
02:16
theoretical irrefutable core of the
02:20
libertarian doctrine is simple and
02:22
straightforward
02:24
and I have explained it already
02:25
repeatedly at this place
02:28
if there were no scarcity in the world
02:32
human conflicts or more precisely physic
02:36
clashes would be impossible
02:39
interpersonal conflicts are obvious
02:42
conflicts concerning scarce ings I want
02:46
to do a with a given thing and you want
02:49
to do B with a very same thing and
02:52
because of such conflicts and because we
02:56
are able to communicate and argue with
02:58
each other we seek out norms of behavior
03:02
with the purpose of avoiding these
03:05
conflicts the purpose of norms is
03:08
conflict avoidance if we did not want to
03:12
avoid conflicts the search for norms of
03:15
conduct would be senseless we would
03:18
simply fight and struggle now absent a
03:22
perfect harmony of all interests
03:25
conflicts regarding scarce resources can
03:29
only be avoided if all scarce resources
03:32
are assigned as private exclusive
03:35
property to some specified individual or
03:39
group of individuals only then can I act
03:44
independently with my own things from
03:48
you with your own things without you and
03:52
me physically clashing but who owns what
03:58
scarce resource as his private property
04:00
and who does not
04:02
now first each person owns his physical
04:06
body that only he and no one else
04:09
controls directly and second as for
04:14
scarce resources that can be controlled
04:18
only indirectly
04:19
that must be appropriated with our own
04:23
nature given that is unappropriated body
04:27
exclusive control or property is
04:30
acquired by and assigned to that person
04:33
who appreciated the resource in question
04:36
for
04:37
or who acquired it through voluntary and
04:40
conflict-free exchange from its previous
04:43
owner because only the first
04:46
appropriator of the resource and all
04:49
later owners connected to him through a
04:52
chain of voluntary exchanges can
04:55
possibly acquire and gain control over
04:59
it without conflict that is peacefully
05:02
otherwise if exclusive control is
05:05
assigned instead to late commerce
05:08
conflict is not avoided but contrary to
05:12
the very purpose of norms made
05:15
unavoidable and permanent now before
05:19
this audience I do not need to go into
05:21
greater detail except to add this if you
05:25
want to live in peace with other people
05:27
and avoid all physical clashes and if
05:31
such class rests do occur seek to
05:34
resolve them peacefully then you must be
05:37
an anarchist or a proponent of a private
05:40
law society or more precisely you must
05:44
be a private property anarchist an
05:47
anarcho-capitalist or as I said the
05:50
proponent of a private law society and
05:53
by implication then and again without
05:56
much further ado someone or anyone is
06:00
not a libertarian or merely a fake
06:03
libertarian who affirms and advocates
06:06
one or more of the following things for
06:09
instance the necessity of a state any
06:12
state of public work state property and
06:16
of Texas in order to live in peace or
06:19
who affirms the existence and
06:22
unjustifiably
06:24
justifiability of any so called human
06:27
rights or civil rights other than
06:29
private property rights such as woman
06:32
rights gay rights minority rights the
06:36
right not to be discriminated against
06:38
the right to free and unrestricted
06:41
immigration which is the right to free
06:44
trespassing the right to a guaranteed
06:47
minimum income what will free
06:50
here was a right to be free of
06:52
unpleasant speech and thought the
06:55
proponents of any of this may call
06:58
themselves whatever they want and as
07:01
libertarians me we may well cooperate
07:04
with them insofar as such cooperation
07:08
offers the promise of bringing us closer
07:11
to our ultimate goal but they are not
07:14
libertarians were only fake libertarians
07:18
now a funny thing happened on the way to
07:22
the forum while Roz Bart and I following
07:26
in his footsteps
07:27
never went astray from these
07:29
theoretically derived core beliefs not
07:33
just non libertarians but in particular
07:36
also fake libertarians there is people
07:39
claiming falsely to be libertarians and
07:42
even many possibly honest yet dim-witted
07:46
libertarians have selected and vilified
07:49
us as their favorite pet Noir and
07:52
incarnates of evil rose birth the spirit
07:56
was rector of modern libertarianism he
08:00
has been branded for instance by this
08:03
so-called anti-fascist crowd as a
08:06
reactionary a racist a sexist and
08:10
authoritarian and elitist a xenophobe a
08:13
fascist and to top it all off as a
08:16
self-hating Jewish Nazi
08:21
and I have inherited all of these
08:24
honorary titles plus a few more except
08:27
for the Jewish stuff
08:31
so what funny thing has happened here
08:34
now trying to develop an answer to this
08:38
question brings me the topic to the
08:40
topic of the speech namely the
08:42
relationship between libertarianism and
08:44
the alternative right was the alt-right
08:47
which has gained national and
08:50
international nord notoriety after
08:52
Hillary Clinton during the last
08:54
presidential election campaign
08:57
identified it as one of the
08:59
inspirational sources behind the basket
09:03
of deplorable rooting for Trump and
09:06
which I must say and emphasize which
09:10
after Trump’s election victory the
09:13
alternative fight quickly broke with
09:15
Trump at least most of the people broke
09:18
with Trump when it turned out that he
09:20
was just another presidential war monger
09:23
now the odd right movement is
09:26
essentially the successor of the paleo
09:29
conservative movement that came to
09:32
prominence in the early 1990s with
09:36
columnist and best-selling author
09:38
Patrick Buchanan as his best-known
09:41
representative it went somewhat dormant
09:45
by the late 1990s in it has recently in
09:49
light of the steadily growing damage
09:51
done to America and its reputation by
09:55
the successive Bush one Clinton Bush –
09:58
and Obama administration it has
10:01
re-emerged more vigorous than before
10:04
under the new label of alright many of
10:08
the leading lights associated with the
10:10
old right have appeared here at our
10:13
meetings in the course of the years Paul
10:15
Gottfried who first coined the term
10:18
Peter Brimmer Laura chatlin jarrell
10:20
Taylor John Derbyshire Steve Siler and
10:23
Richard Spencer as well Sean Gabe’s name
10:27
is occasionally associated and my name
10:30
is also regularly mentioned in
10:32
connection was he alright and my work
10:36
has also been linked also with the
10:39
closely related neo reactionary
10:42
movement inspired by Kurtis Jarvan who I
10:45
also personally know and who write wrote
10:49
under the pen-name Mencius mold bug and
10:54
his now-defunct blog unqualified
10:57
reservations in some these personal
11:01
relations and associations have earned
11:03
me several honorable mentions by
11:06
America’s most famous smear and
11:08
defamation League the Southern Poverty
11:11
Law Center which my good friend Tom
11:14
DiLorenzo always refers to as a Soviet
11:17
poverty lie center now how about the
11:24
relationship between libertarianism and
11:26
the alt-right and my reasons for having
11:28
invited leading representatives
11:31
obviously all to write two meetings with
11:33
libertarians libertarians are united by
11:38
the irrefutable theoretical core beliefs
11:41
mentioned at the outset they are clear
11:45
about the goal that they want to achieve
11:48
but the libertarian doctrine does not
11:51
imply much if anything concerning these
11:55
two following questions first how to
11:59
maintain a libertarian order once you
12:02
have achieved it and more importantly
12:04
second how to attain a libertarian order
12:08
from a none libertarian starting point
12:11
which requires of course on the one hand
12:14
that one must correctly describes a
12:17
starting point and secondly man must
12:20
correctly identify the obstacles posed
12:24
in the way of one’s libertarian ends by
12:27
this very starting point to answer these
12:31
questions in addition to theory you also
12:34
need some knowledge of human psychology
12:37
and sociology or at least a modicum of
12:40
common sense yet many libertarians and
12:44
fake libertarians are plain ignorant of
12:47
human psychology and sociology or even
12:50
devoid of any common
12:52
since they blindly accept against all
12:55
empirical evidence an egalitarian blank
12:59
slate view of human nature that is that
13:04
all people and all societies in all
13:06
country cultures are essentially equal
13:09
and interchangeable
13:11
now while much of contemporary
13:14
libertarianism then can be characterized
13:16
as theory and theorists without
13:19
psychology and sociology much or even
13:23
most of the alt-right can be described
13:25
in contrast as psychology and sociology
13:28
without any Theory the old writers are
13:33
not united by a commonly held theory and
13:36
there exists nothing even faintly
13:39
resembling a canonical text defining its
13:43
meaning
13:44
razza the author write is essentially
13:47
united in its description of the
13:49
contemporary world and in particular the
13:52
US and the so called Western world and
13:55
the identification and diagnosis of its
13:58
social pathologies in fact it has been
14:01
correctly noted that the author write is
14:04
far more united by what it is against
14:07
then what it is for it is against and
14:12
indeed it hates with a passion the
14:16
elites in control of the state the
14:19
mainstream media and academia and why
14:23
because the state the mainstream media
14:28
and academia all promote social
14:31
degeneracy and pathology thus they
14:35
promote and the alt-right vigorously
14:38
opposes egalitarianism affirmative
14:42
action or non-discrimination laws
14:46
multiculturalism and free mass
14:49
immigration as a means to bring about
14:51
this multiculturalism as well the author
14:55
write laws us everything smacking of
14:58
cultural Marxism or grumpy ism named
15:02
after Antonio Gramsci the Italian
15:05
Communist
15:05
and they hate our political correctness
15:08
and strategically wise I think it shrugs
15:12
off without any apology whatsoever all
15:16
accusations of being racist sexist
15:18
elitist supremacist homophobe xenophobe
15:21
and so on and so on and the odd right
15:24
also laughs off as hopelessly naive the
15:29
programmatic model of so-called
15:31
libertarians such as students for
15:34
liberty which I have also termed the
15:36
stupids for liberty and my young German
15:40
friend angrily schlock has referred to
15:42
them as a liberal halala libertarians
15:45
and their motto of peace love and
15:49
liberty which lift are appropriated
15:52
translated into German as Frieda Florida
15:56
I aku libertarians now in stark contrast
15:59
to this all the writers insist that life
16:03
is also about strife hate struggle and
16:07
fight not just between individuals but
16:10
also among various groups of people
16:12
acting in concert millennial Ville those
16:19
pen name by actual name is Colin
16:24
Robertson has us I think aptly
16:26
summarized the odd write and I quote
16:30
equality is bullshit hierarchy is
16:33
essential the races are different the
16:36
sexes are different morality matters and
16:39
degeneracy is real all cultures are not
16:42
equal and we are not obligated to think
16:45
that they are men is a fallen creature
16:48
and there is more to life than hollow
16:50
materialism finally the white rice race
16:54
matters and civilization is precious
16:56
this is the alt-right end of quote now
17:01
absent any unifying theory however there
17:05
is far less agreement among the old
17:08
right about the goal that it ultimately
17:10
wants to achieve many of its leading
17:14
lights have distinctly libertarian
17:17
leanings most notably
17:19
those that have come here which of
17:21
course was the reason for having them
17:23
invited in the first place even if they
17:26
were not under percenters and all all
17:32
the writers that have appeared here for
17:34
instance have been familiar with Ross
17:36
Bart and his work all the while the most
17:39
recent presidential candidate of the
17:42
Libertarian Party in the United States
17:44
had never even heard of Roe’s Bart’s
17:46
name and all of them those that I had
17:50
here to the best of my knowledge were
17:53
outspoken supporters of Ron Paul during
17:56
his primary campaign for the Republican
17:58
Party’s nomination as presidential
18:00
candidate all of them also while many
18:05
self-proclaimed libertarians attacked
18:07
and try to vilify Ron Paul for his
18:11
supposedly and you know already what is
18:13
coming racist views however several of
18:18
the old rights leaders and many of its
18:21
rank-and-file followers have also
18:23
endorsed views that are incompatible
18:25
with libertarianism as Buchanan before
18:29
and Trump now they are adamant about
18:34
complimenting a policy of restrictive
18:37
highly selective and discriminating
18:39
immigration which is entirely compatible
18:42
with libertarianism and its goal of
18:45
freedom of association and the
18:48
opposition to forced integration many of
18:51
them proposed to combine this policy
18:54
with a strident policy of restricted
18:57
trade economic protectionism protect
19:00
when protective tariffs which is of
19:03
course entice ethical to libertarianism
19:06
and inimical to human prosperity let me
19:11
hasten to add however here that despite
19:14
my misgivings about about his economics
19:18
I still consider Pat Buchanan a great
19:21
man others straight even further afield
19:25
such as Richard Spencer who first
19:28
popularized the term all right in the
19:31
meantime
19:32
owing to several recent publicity stunts
19:35
which have gained him some sort of
19:38
notoriety in the US
19:40
Spencer has Clinton laid claim to the
19:43
rank of the maximum leader of a
19:45
supposedly mighty unified movement and
19:48
endeavour by the way that has been
19:51
ridiculed by takeo our kapa loose hockey
19:55
Meg who is a veteran champion of
19:58
superior conservative turn all the right
20:01
movement and was Spencer’s former
20:04
employer when Spencer appeared here
20:07
several years ago he still exhibited
20:10
strong libertarian leanings
20:13
unfortunately however this has changed
20:16
in Spencer now Dean ounces without any
20:20
qualification whatsoever all
20:22
libertarians in every singly Bert Aryan
20:24
and has gone so far as to even put up
20:28
with socialism as long as it is
20:30
socialism of an for only white people
20:34
you can imagine my disappointment
20:37
now given the lack of any theoretical
20:40
foundation this split of the odd right
20:43
movement into a rival factions can
20:46
hardly be considered a surprise yet this
20:50
fact should not mislead one to dismiss
20:53
it because the author right has brought
20:56
out many insights that are of central
20:59
importance in approaching an answer to
21:03
the two questions that I mentioned
21:05
before that libertarians had
21:07
traditionally difficulties answering
21:10
namely of how to maintain a libertarian
21:13
order and how to get to such an order
21:16
from the current decidedly unlimber
21:19
tarian status quo the all right of
21:23
course did not discover these insights
21:25
they had been long long before
21:28
established and indeed Allah in large
21:30
parts they are no more than common sense
21:33
but in recent times such insights have
21:37
been buried under mountains of Nikola
21:40
terian leftist propaganda and the
21:43
alright must be
21:44
at least for having brought them back to
21:47
light to illustrate the importance of
21:50
such insights let me take the first
21:52
unanswered question first many
21:57
libertarians hold the view that all that
22:00
is needed to maintain a libertarian
22:02
social order is a strict enforcement of
22:06
the non-aggression principle otherwise
22:10
as long as one abstains from aggression
22:13
according to their view the principle of
22:17
live-and-let-live should hold yet surely
22:21
while this live-and-let-live sounds
22:24
appealing to adolescents in a rebellion
22:27
against parental authority and all
22:30
social convention and control and I
22:34
should add many youngsters have
22:35
initially been attracted to libertarian
22:38
believing that this live-and-let-live is
22:41
all that libertarianism has to offer and
22:44
while this principle does indeed hold
22:47
and apply for people living far apart
22:50
and dealing with each other only
22:53
indirectly in from afar when it comes to
22:58
it does not hold the Spillman does not
23:00
hold and apply or rather it is
23:02
insufficient when it comes to people
23:04
living in close close proximity to each
23:07
other as neighbors and cohabitants of
23:10
the same community a simple example
23:14
suffices to make this point assume
23:17
there’s all of a sudden a new next-door
23:20
neighbor this neighbor does not address
23:23
against you or your property in any way
23:26
but he is simply a bad neighbor he is
23:30
littering on his own neighboring
23:33
property turning it into a garbage heap
23:36
for instance in the open for you to see
23:40
he engages in ritual animal slaughter or
23:45
he turns his house into a Floyd in house
23:48
a bordello with clients coming and going
23:51
all day and all night long
23:53
or he never offers a helping
23:57
and it never keeps any promises that he
24:00
has made or he cannot or else he refuses
24:04
to speak to you in your own language and
24:07
so forth and so forth we all have
24:11
experiences with what bad how bad life
24:14
can become if you have bad neighbors so
24:18
your life is turned into a nightmare yet
24:22
you may not use violence against him
24:24
because he has not against aggressed
24:26
against you now what can you do you can
24:30
of course shun and ostracize him but
24:33
let’s say your neighbor does not care in
24:36
any case you alone thus punishing him
24:40
makes little if any difference to him
24:43
you have to have the communal respect
24:46
and authority or you must turn to
24:50
someone who does have this communal
24:53
authority to persuade and convince
24:56
everyone who at least most of the
24:59
members of your community to do likewise
25:02
and make the bad neighbor a social
25:05
outcast so as to exert enough pressure
25:08
on him to sell his property and leave
25:12
now so much for those libertarians who
25:16
in addition to their live-and-let-live
25:20
motto
25:21
also hail the idea of respect no
25:25
authority respect no hierarchy respect
25:28
no person above you now the lesson the
25:34
peaceful cohabitation of neighbors and
25:37
of people in regular direct contact with
25:40
each other on some territory that is a
25:43
tranquil convivial social order requires
25:47
also a commonality of culture of
25:51
language religion custom and convention
25:55
there can be peaceful coexistence of
25:58
different cultures on distant physically
26:01
separated territories but
26:03
multiculturalism cultural cultural
26:06
heterogeneity cannot exist in one and
26:10
the same
26:10
place in territory without leading to
26:13
diminishing social trust increased
26:16
tension and ultimately the call for a
26:19
strongmen and the destruction of
26:21
anything resembling a libertarian social
26:24
order and moreover just as a libertarian
26:29
order must always be on guard against
26:32
bad even if none aggressive neighbors by
26:35
means of social ostracism that is by a
26:38
common you are not welcome here culture
26:41
so and indeed even more vigilantly so
26:45
must that be guarded against neighbors
26:47
who openly advocate communism socialism
26:50
syndicalism or democracy in any shape or
26:54
form these people in thereby posing an
26:58
open threat to all private property and
27:01
property owners must not only be shunned
27:04
but they must to use by now somewhat
27:08
famous hopper meme be physically removed
27:11
if if need be by violence and forced to
27:15
leave for other pastures not to do so
27:19
inevitably leads to well communism
27:22
socialism syndicalism or democracy and
27:25
hence the very opposite of a social
27:28
order that can call itself a libertarian
27:31
now while these rightists or as I would
27:35
say plain common sensical
27:37
insights with ceasing in mind I turn now
27:40
to the more challenging question of how
27:43
to move from here that is the status quo
27:46
to there and for this it might be
27:49
instructive to first briefly consider
27:52
the answer given by the liberal Allah
27:55
peace and love and liberty freedom
27:58
fighter I aku who are capitalism is love
28:01
libertarians because it reveals the same
28:05
fundamental egalitarianism even if in a
28:08
slightly different form as that
28:09
exhibited also by the live-and-let-live
28:13
libertarians
28:14
these these live-and-let-live
28:17
libertarians
28:18
as I have just tried to show define what
28:22
we may call the
28:23
neighbor problem and what is in fact of
28:27
course merely a shorthand for the
28:29
general problem posed by the coexistence
28:32
of distinctly different alien mutually
28:35
disturbing annoying strange or hostile
28:38
cultures they have simply defined this
28:41
problem out of existence because they
28:46
assume or people are exactly the same or
28:50
cultures are the same and if that is
28:52
true then a bad neighbor problem simply
28:54
cannot exist now the same egg latarian
28:59
or a syllable illallah libertarians
29:02
themselves to prefer or call themselves
29:05
humanitarian spirit also comes to bear
29:08
in their answer to the question of a
29:10
libertarian strategy in a nutshell what
29:15
they advise is this be nice talk to
29:19
everyone and then in the long run the
29:22
better libertarian arguments will win
29:24
out to illustrate take my former friend
29:28
turned into a faux Jeffrey Tucker who
29:31
gives us five downs when talking Liberty
29:36
and I quote they are first don’t be
29:39
belligerent second don’t presume hatred
29:42
of Liberty three don’t presume different
29:46
goals and four don’t presume ignorance
29:49
and five don’t regard anyone as an enemy
29:52
those are the four don’ts now quite
29:56
apart from the fact that Tucker does not
29:59
seem to follow his own advice in his
30:01
belligerent condemnation of the entire
30:03
alt-right as Liberty hating fascists I
30:06
find his exhortation stru Lee astounding
30:10
they may be good advice Lisa V people
30:13
who have just sprung up from nowhere
30:16
without any traceable history whatsoever
30:19
but these are the real people with a
30:22
recorded history they strike me as
30:25
hopelessly naive unrealistic and out are
30:28
outright counterproductive
30:30
counterproductive in the pursuit of
30:32
libertarian ends for I and I assume
30:36
everyone else here
30:37
no of and have met many people in my
30:41
life who are ignorant who do have
30:44
different unlimber terian goals and who
30:46
do hate liberty as understood by
30:49
libertarians and why in the world should
30:51
I not regard such people as fools or
30:54
enemies and why should I not hate and
30:57
not be belligerent these are V my
31:00
enemies as a libertarian strategy then I
31:04
think teca’s advice must be considered
31:06
simply a bad joke but surely it is good
31:10
advice if one seeks entry into the state
31:12
as some sort of libertarian state
31:15
advisor and this may well explain the
31:17
enthusiasm with which Tatas humanitarian
31:20
libertarianism has been embraced by the
31:23
entire liberal ala libertarian crowd now
31:27
outside libertarian outside egalitarian
31:30
fantasy lands however in the real world
31:34
libertarians must above all be realistic
31:37
and recognize from the outset as he all
31:40
right does the inequality not just of
31:44
individuals but also of different
31:45
cultures as an ineradicable datum of the
31:50
human existence
31:51
we must further recognize that there
31:54
exist plenty of enemies of Liberty as
31:57
defined by libertarianism and that they
32:00
not we are in charge of worldly affairs
32:03
that in many parts of the contemporary
32:06
world their control of the populace is
32:10
so complete that the idea of liberty of
32:12
a libertarian social order are
32:15
practically unheard of were considered
32:17
unsinkable except as some idle
32:20
intellectual play or mental gymnastics
32:23
by a few exotic individuals and that it
32:27
is essentially only in the West that is
32:30
in the countries of Western in Central
32:32
Europe and the lands settled by its
32:35
people that the idea of Liberty is so
32:37
deeply rooted that these enemies still
32:41
can be openly challenged in confining
32:45
our strategic considerations now only to
32:49
the West then we
32:51
can identify pretty much as the old
32:54
right has effectively done these actors
32:57
and agencies as our principle enemies
33:00
they are first and foremost the ruling
33:04
elites in control of the state apparatus
33:07
and in particular that so called a deep
33:10
state or the so called Cathedral of the
33:13
military the secret services the central
33:16
banks and the supreme courts as well
33:19
they include the leaders of the
33:22
military-industrial complex that is of
33:24
nominally private firms that always
33:27
their very existence to the state as the
33:30
exclusive or dominant buyer of their
33:32
products and they also include the
33:35
leaders of the big commercial banks
33:37
which owes their privilege of creating
33:40
money and credit out of sin heir to the
33:43
existence of the central bank and its
33:45
role as a lender of last resort they
33:49
together there is state big business and
33:53
big banking form an extremely powerful
33:56
even if tiny mutual admiration society
33:59
jointly ripping of the huge mass of
34:03
taxpayers and living it up big-time at
34:06
their expense
34:08
the second much larger group of enemies
34:11
is made up of the intellectuals the
34:15
educators and educates from the highest
34:18
level of academia down to the level of
34:21
elementary schools and kindergartens
34:24
funded almost exclusively whether
34:27
directly or indirectly by the state they
34:30
in their overwhelming majority have
34:32
become the soft tools and willing
34:35
executioner’s in the hands of the ruling
34:37
elite and its designs for absolute power
34:40
and total control and certainly there
34:44
are the journalists of the mainstream
34:46
media as a docile products of the system
34:49
of public education and the Craven
34:51
recipients and popularizers of
34:53
government information now equally
34:57
important in the development of a
34:59
libertarian strategies and is
35:01
immediately following next question who
35:03
are the victims
35:04
now the standard libertarian answer to
35:07
this is the taxpayers as opposed to the
35:11
tax consumers yet while this is
35:14
essentially correct it is at best only
35:17
part of the answer and libertarians
35:20
could learn something in this respect
35:22
from the author right because apart from
35:25
the narrowly economic aspect there is
35:28
also a wider cultural aspect that must
35:31
be taken into account in identifying the
35:33
victims in order to expand and increase
35:37
its power the ruling elites have been
35:40
conducting for many decades what Pat
35:43
Buchanan has identified as a systemic
35:46
culture of war aimed at the
35:49
transvaluation of all values and the
35:52
destruction of all natural or if you
35:54
will organic social bonds and
35:57
institutions such as families
35:59
communities ethnic groups and
36:02
genealogically related nations so as to
36:06
create inherently an increasingly
36:09
atomized populace whose only shared
36:12
characteristic and unifying bond is its
36:16
common ascent existential dependency on
36:19
the state the first step in this
36:22
direction taken already more than half a
36:25
century ago or even longer ago was the
36:28
introduction of public welfare in social
36:31
security thereby the underclass and the
36:35
elderly were turned turned into state
36:38
dependents and the value and the
36:41
importance of family and community was
36:44
correspondingly diminished and weakened
36:47
more recently further reaching steps in
36:51
this direction have proliferated a new
36:54
victimology has been proclaimed and
36:57
promoted women and in particular single
37:00
mothers blacks Browns Latinos
37:03
homosexuals lesbians bi and transsexuals
37:06
have been awarded victim status and
37:09
accorded legal privileges through
37:12
non-discrimination or affirmative action
37:15
decrease as well most recently such
37:20
privileges have been expanded also to
37:23
foreign national immigrants whether
37:25
legal or illegal in so far as a four
37:29
into one of the just mentioned
37:31
categories or are members of
37:34
non-christian religions such as Islam
37:36
for instance the result not only has the
37:40
earlier mentioned bad neighbor problem
37:42
not been avoided or soft but it has been
37:45
systematically promoted and intensified
37:48
instead cultural homogeneity has been
37:52
destroyed and the freedom of association
37:54
and the voluntary physical segregation
37:58
and separation of different people
38:00
communities cultures and traditions has
38:03
been replaced by an all-pervasive system
38:06
of forced social integration moreover
38:09
each mentioned victim group has just
38:12
been pitted against every other and all
38:16
of them have been pitted been pitted
38:18
against white heterosexual Christian
38:20
males in in particular those married and
38:22
his children as his only remaining
38:24
legally unprotected group of alleged
38:27
victimizers hence as a result of the
38:32
transvaluation of all values promoted by
38:35
the ruling elites the world has been
38:37
literally turned upside down the
38:40
institution of a family household was
38:42
father mother and their children that
38:44
has formed the basis of Western
38:46
civilization’s as a freest most
38:49
industrious ingenious and all-around
38:51
accomplished civilization known to
38:53
mankind that is the very institution and
38:56
people that has done most good in human
38:59
history therefore done many bad things
39:01
that group has been officially
39:03
stigmatized and vilified as a source of
39:06
all social ills and made the most
39:09
heavily disadvantaged even persecuted
39:12
group by the enemy elites relentless
39:15
policy of DVD at Impala now accordingly
39:19
given the present constellation of
39:21
affairs and any promising libertarian
39:24
strategy must very much as the old rice
39:27
has recognized
39:28
first and foremost be tailored and
39:30
addressed to this group of the most
39:33
severely victimized people white married
39:36
Christian couples with children in
39:38
particular if they belong also to the
39:40
class of tax payers rather than tax
39:43
consumers and everyone most closely
39:45
resembling or aspiring to this standard
39:48
form of social order and organization
39:50
can be a realistically expected to be
39:53
the most receptive audience for the
39:56
libertarian message whereas the least
39:59
support should be expected to come from
40:02
the most highly protected groups such as
40:06
for instance single black Muslim mothers
40:08
on welfare now given this constellation
40:12
of perpetrators or enemies versus
40:15
victims in the contemporary Western I
40:18
can now come to the final task of trying
40:21
to outline a realistic libertarian
40:24
strategy for social change the specifics
40:28
of which I’ll come to that in a second
40:30
should be prefaced by two general
40:34
considerations for one given that the
40:37
class of intellectuals from the tops of
40:40
academia down to the opinion moulding
40:44
journalists in the mainstream media and
40:46
so forth are funded by and firmly tied
40:49
into the ruling system that is that they
40:52
are part of the problem they also should
40:55
not be expected to play a major if any
40:58
role in the problems solution
41:01
accordingly
41:02
the so-called Hayekian strategy for
41:05
social change that envisions the spread
41:08
of correct libertarian ideas starting at
41:12
the top with the leading philosophers
41:14
and then trickling down from there to
41:17
journalists and finally to the great
41:19
unwashed masses must be considered
41:22
fundamentally unrealistic instead any
41:27
realistic libertarian strategy for
41:30
change must be a populist strategy that
41:33
is libertarians must short-circuit the
41:36
dominant intellectual elites and address
41:39
the masses directly to arouse a indeed
41:42
and contempt for the ruling elites and
41:45
secondly all the way although while the
41:49
main addresses of a populist libertarian
41:52
message must be indeed the just
41:54
mentioned group of dispossessed and
41:57
disenfranchised native whites I believe
42:00
it to be a serious strategic error to
42:03
make whiteness e exclusive criterion on
42:05
which to base one strategic decision as
42:08
some strands of the alt-right have
42:11
suggested to do wrongly so I believe
42:13
after all it is above all white men that
42:18
make up the ruling elite and that have
42:21
foisted the current mess upon us true
42:25
enough their various protected
42:27
minorities mentioned before take full
42:30
advantage of the legal privileges that
42:33
they have been accorded and they have
42:35
become increasingly emboldened to ask
42:38
for ever more protection but none of
42:41
them and all of them together did not
42:44
and do not possess the intellectual
42:46
prowess that would have made this
42:49
outcome possible if it were not for the
42:52
instrumental help that they received and
42:54
are receiving from white men now taking
42:59
our cues from the Buchanan the Ron Paul
43:02
and the Trump movement on to the
43:05
specifics of a populist strategy for
43:08
libertarian change in no particular
43:10
order except for the very first one
43:13
which has currently assumed the greatest
43:16
urgency in the public mind one stop mass
43:23
immigration the waves of immigrants
43:26
currently flood and flooding the Western
43:28
world have burdened it with hordes of
43:31
welfare parasites brought in terrorists
43:34
increased crime led to the proliferation
43:37
of no-go areas and resulted in countless
43:41
bad neighbors who based on their alien
43:45
upbringing culture and tradition lack
43:48
any understanding appreciation of
43:50
Liberty and are bound to become mindless
43:53
future supporters of welfare status
43:56
no one is against immigration and
43:59
immigrants per se but immigration must
44:02
be by invitation only all immigrants
44:05
must be productive people and hence be
44:08
barred from all domestic welfare
44:10
payments to ensure this they or their
44:14
inviting party must place a bond with a
44:17
community in which they are to settle
44:20
and which is to be forfeited and lead to
44:23
the immigrants deportation should he
44:26
ever become a public burden as well
44:29
every immigrant inviting party or
44:32
employer should not only pay for the
44:34
immigrants upkeep or salary but must
44:37
also pay is a residential community for
44:41
the additional wear and tear of its
44:43
public facilities that is associated
44:46
with the immigrants presence so as to
44:49
avoid the socialization of any and all
44:52
costs incurred with his settlement
44:55
moreover even before the admission every
44:59
potential immigrant invitee must be
45:03
carefully screened and tested not only
45:05
for his productivity but also for
45:08
cultural affinity or good labour ninis
45:10
with the empirically predictable result
45:14
of mostly but no means but by no means
45:16
exclusively Western white immigrant
45:19
candidates and any known communists or
45:22
socialists of any color denomination or
45:25
country of origin must be barred from
45:28
permanent settlement unless that is the
45:31
community where he the potential
45:33
immigrant wants to settle officially
45:36
sanctions the looting of its residents
45:38
property by new foreign arrivals which
45:42
is not very likely to say the least
45:44
even with already existing commie
45:47
communities now a brief message to all
45:51
open border and liberal ala libertarians
45:53
who will surely label this you guessed
45:56
it as fascist now in a fully privatized
46:01
libertarian social order there exists no
46:04
such thing as a right to free
46:05
immigration private property implies
46:09
border
46:10
and the owners right to exclude at will
46:13
and public property has bored us as well
46:16
it is not unknown property it is a
46:20
property of domestic taxpayers and most
46:23
definitely not the property of
46:25
foreigners and while it is true that the
46:29
state is a criminal organization and
46:31
that to entrust it with a task of border
46:34
control will inevitably result in
46:36
numerous injustice to both domestic
46:39
residents and foreigners it is also true
46:42
that the state does something when it
46:46
decides not to do anything about border
46:49
control and that under the present
46:52
circumstances if the state would not do
46:54
anything about border control that this
46:57
will lead to even more and much graver
47:00
in Justices in particular to the
47:03
domestic citizenry than any other policy
47:06
to stop attacking killing and bombing
47:11
people in foreign countries a main cause
47:14
even if by no means the only one of the
47:17
current invasion of Western countries by
47:20
hordes of alien immigrants are the wars
47:23
initiated and conducted in the Middle
47:25
East and elsewhere by the United States
47:27
ruling elites and their subordinate
47:30
Western puppet elites as well the by now
47:35
seemingly normal in Ubiquiti terrorist
47:38
attacks in the name of Islam across the
47:40
Western world are in large measure a
47:42
blowback of these Wars and the ensuing
47:45
chaos throughout the Middle East and
47:47
northern Africa
47:49
there should be no hesitation on our
47:52
part to cause these Western rulers
47:55
responsible forces for what they really
47:57
are
47:58
murderous or accessories to mass murder
48:01
we must demand and cry out loud instead
48:04
for a foreign policy of strict
48:08
non-interventionism withdraw from all
48:11
international and supranational
48:13
organizations such as the United Nations
48:16
NATO and the unit and the European Union
48:19
that intricate one country
48:22
into the domestic affairs of another
48:24
stop or government to government aid and
48:28
prohibit all weapon sales to foreign
48:31
States let it be
48:33
America first England first Germany
48:35
first Italy first Turkey first and
48:38
smaller Bavaria first and then it to
48:46
first and so forth each country trading
48:50
with one another and no one interfering
48:53
in any one anyone else’s domestic
48:55
affairs three defund the ruling elites
49:00
and its intellectual bodyguards exposed
49:03
and widely publicized the lavish
49:07
salaries perks pensions side deals
49:10
bribes and hush monies received by the
49:13
ruling elites by the higher-ups
49:15
in government and governmental
49:17
bureaucracies of supreme courts central
49:20
bank’s secret services in spy agencies
49:24
by politicians parliamentarians party
49:27
leaders political advisors and
49:29
consultants by crony capitalists public
49:32
EDX university presidents provost and
49:35
academic stars derive home the point
49:39
that all of their shining glory and
49:42
luxury is funded by money extorted from
49:45
taxpayers and consequently urge that any
49:48
and all Texas be slashed income taxes
49:51
property taxes sales taxes inheritance
49:54
taxes and on and on for in the Fed in
49:59
all central bank’s the second source of
50:03
funding for the ruling elites besides
50:05
the money extorted from the public in
50:07
the form of Texas comes from the central
50:09
banks central banks are allowed to
50:12
create paper money out of thin air this
50:15
reduces the purchasing power of money
50:17
and destroys the savings of average
50:20
people it does not and cannot make
50:23
society as a whole
50:24
richer but it redistributes income and
50:28
wealth within society the earliest
50:30
receiver of the newly created money that
50:34
is usually the
50:35
elites are thereby made richer and the
50:38
later and latest receiver that is the
50:40
average citizen are made poorer the
50:43
central bank’s manipulation of interest
50:46
rates is a cause of boom bust cycles the
50:50
central bank permits the accumulation of
50:52
ever greater public debt that is shifted
50:55
as a burden onto unknown future
50:57
taxpayers or is simply inflated away and
51:01
as a facilitator of public debt the
51:04
central banks are also the facilitators
51:07
of Wars
51:08
this monstrosity must end and be
51:11
replaced by a system of free competitive
51:13
banking built on the foundation of a
51:16
genuine commodity money such as gold and
51:19
silver 5 abolish all affirmative action
51:24
and non-discrimination laws and
51:26
regulations or such edicts are blatant
51:30
violations of the principle of the
51:32
equality before the law that at least in
51:35
the West is intuitively sensed and
51:38
recognized and as a fundamental
51:40
principle of justice as private property
51:44
owners people must be free to associate
51:47
or disassociate with others to include
51:50
or to exclude to integrate or to
51:53
segregate to join or to separate to
51:57
unify and incorporate or to disunite
51:59
exit and secede close all university
52:04
departments for black latino women
52:06
gender queer studies and so forth as
52:09
incompatible with science and dismiss
52:12
its faculties as intellectual imposters
52:15
or scoundrels as well demand that all
52:19
affirmative action Comus ours diversity
52:21
and human resource offices from
52:24
universities on down to schools and
52:26
kindergartens be thrown out onto the
52:29
street and be forced to learn some
52:31
useful trade 6 crush the anti-fascist
52:36
mob the transvaluation of all values
52:39
throughout the West the invention of
52:42
evermore victim groups the spread of
52:45
affirmative action programs and the
52:47
endless promotion of political
52:49
correctness has led to the rise of an
52:52
anti-fascist mob tacitly supported and
52:56
indirectly funded by the ruling elites
52:59
this self-described mob of social
53:02
justice warriors has taken upon itself
53:05
the task of escalating the fight against
53:08
white privilege through deliberate acts
53:11
of terror directed against anyone and
53:14
anything deemed racist right-wing
53:16
fascist reactionary incorrigible or
53:19
unreconstructed such enemies of progress
53:23
are physically assaulted by the entire
53:26
anti-fascist mob their cars are burned
53:29
down their properties are vandalized and
53:32
their employers are threatened to
53:34
dismiss him and ruin their careers
53:36
all the while the police are ordered by
53:39
the powers that be to stand down and not
53:42
to investigate the crimes committed or
53:45
persecute and punish the criminals in
53:48
view of this outrage public anger must
53:51
be aroused and there must be clamoring
53:53
far and wide for the police to be
53:56
unleashed in this mob beaten into
53:59
submission now a query again for liberal
54:02
alla libertarians and the stupids for
54:05
liberty who are sure to object to this
54:07
demand on the ground that the police has
54:09
to crush the anti fascist mob a state
54:12
police question to them do you also
54:16
object on the same grounds that the
54:18
police arrest murderers or rapists
54:20
aren’t these legitimate tasks performed
54:24
also in a libertarian order by private
54:27
police and if the police are not allowed
54:30
to do anything about this mob isn’t it
54:33
okay then that the target of these
54:35
attacks may be the so-called racists
54:38
right should take the task upon itself
54:41
and of giving the social justice
54:43
warriors a bloody nose
54:46
seven crush the street criminals and
54:50
gangs in dispensing with the principle
54:53
of the equality before the law and
54:56
awarding all sorts of group privileges
54:59
except to the one
55:01
group that I mentioned the ruling elites
55:04
have also dispensed with a principle of
55:06
equal punishment for equal crime some
55:10
state favorite groups are handed more
55:13
lenient punishment for the same crime
55:16
than others and some especially favorite
55:19
groups are simply led to run wild and go
55:21
practically unpunished at all
55:24
thus actually an effectively promoting
55:27
crime as well no-go areas have been
55:30
permitted to develop where any effort at
55:33
law enforcement has essentially cease to
55:36
exist and where violent thugs and street
55:39
gangs have taken over in view of this
55:42
public furor must be provoked and it be
55:46
unmistakably demanded that the police
55:49
crackdown quick and hard on any robber
55:51
mugger
55:52
rapist and murderer and ruthlessly clear
55:55
or current no-go areas of violent gang
55:58
rule needless to say that this policy
56:01
should be colorblind but if it happens
56:04
to be as it in fact is that most Street
56:08
criminals or gang members are young
56:10
black water latino males or in Europe
56:13
young immigrant males from Africa the
56:15
Middle East the Balkans or Eastern
56:17
Europe then so be it
56:19
in such human specimen then should be
56:21
the ones that most prominently get their
56:24
noses noses bloodied and needless to say
56:27
also that in order to defend against
56:29
crime was an ordinary street crime or
56:32
acts of terrorism or prohibitions
56:35
against the ownership of guns by
56:37
upstanding citizens should be abolished
56:40
eight get rid of all welfare parasites
56:44
and bombs to cement their own position
56:48
the ruling class has put the underclass
56:50
on the dole and thus made it the most
56:53
reliable source of public support
56:56
allegedly to help people rise and move
56:59
up from the underclass to become
57:01
self-supporting actors their real and
57:05
actually intended effect of the state’s
57:07
so-called social policy is the exact
57:10
opposite it has rendered a person’s
57:13
under
57:14
that is more permanent and made the
57:17
underclass permanently grow and with
57:21
this of course also the number of tax
57:23
funded social workers and therapists
57:26
assigned to help and assist this group
57:29
for in accordance with in not exact
57:33
exact economic law every subsidy awarded
57:37
on account of some alleged need or
57:39
deficiency produces more not less of the
57:44
problem that it is supposed to alleviate
57:46
or eliminate thus the root cause of the
57:50
person’s underclass status that is his
57:53
low impulse control anti time preference
57:56
that is his uncontrolled desire for
57:59
immediate gratification and the various
58:02
attendant manifestations of this course
58:04
such as permanent unemployment poverty
58:08
alcoholism drug abuse domestic violence
58:11
divorce female-headed households out of
58:14
wedlock births rotating checkup male
58:17
companions child abuse negligence and
58:20
petty crime is and are not alleviated or
58:24
eliminated but systematically
58:26
strengthened and promoted instead of
58:29
continuing and expanding the
58:32
increasingly unsightly social disaster
58:35
it should be abolished and be loudly
58:37
demanded that one takes heed of the
58:40
biblical exhortation that he who can but
58:44
will not work also shall not eat and
58:47
that he who truly cannot work due to
58:50
severe mental or physical deficiencies
58:52
be taken care of by family community and
58:56
voluntary charity nine get the state out
59:00
of education most if not all social
59:03
pathologies plaguing the contemporary
59:06
West have their common root in the
59:08
institution of public education when the
59:12
first steps were taken where our more
59:15
than 200 years ago in Prussia to
59:18
supplement and ultimately replace a
59:21
formerly completely private system of
59:24
education with a universal system of
59:26
compulsive
59:27
public education the time spent in
59:31
state-run schools did in most cases not
59:34
exceed four years today throughout the
59:38
entire Western world the time spent in
59:41
institutions of public education is at a
59:44
minimum around ten years in many cases
59:46
and increasingly so 20 or even 30 years
59:50
that is a large or even the largest part
59:54
of time during the most formative period
59:56
in a person’s life is spent in state
60:00
funded and state supervised institutions
60:02
whose primary purpose from the very
60:06
beginning it was not to raise an
60:08
enlightened public but to Train good
60:11
soldiers and later on good public
60:14
servants not independent and mature
60:17
Mundi Berga but supporting it and
60:20
servile stats berga the result the
60:25
indoctrination has worked the longer the
60:29
time a person has spent was in the
60:31
system of public education the more he
60:35
is committed to leftist the egalitarian
60:37
ideas and has swallowed and
60:40
wholeheartedly internalized the official
60:43
doctrine an agenda of political
60:46
correctness indeed in particular among
60:49
social science teachers and professors
60:51
people not counting themselves as part
60:54
of the left have practically cease to
60:57
exist consequently it must be demanded
61:00
that the control of schools and
61:03
universities be arrested away from the
61:05
central government and in the first step
61:08
we return to regional or better still
61:10
local and locally funded authorities and
61:13
ultimately be completely privatized so
61:16
ever so as to replace a system of
61:19
compulsory uniformity and conformity
61:23
with a system of decentralized education
61:26
that reflects the natural variation
61:30
multiplicity and diversity of human
61:32
talents and interest and 10 and last
61:36
don’t put your trust in politics and
61:38
political parties
61:40
just as academia and the academic world
61:43
cannot be expected to play any
61:46
significant role in a libertarian
61:48
strategy for social change
61:50
so with politics and political parties
61:53
after all it is the ultimate goal of
61:56
libertarianism to put an end to all
61:58
politics does intend to subject all
62:02
interpersonal relations and conflicts to
62:04
private law and civil law procedures to
62:08
be sure under present or pervasively
62:11
politicized conditions and involvement
62:13
in politics and party politics cannot be
62:16
entirely avoided however any such
62:19
involvement in any such involvement one
62:22
must be keenly aware of and guard
62:25
against the corrupting influence of
62:27
power and the lure of money in perks
62:30
that comes with it and to minimize the
62:33
risk and temptation that comes from this
62:36
it is advisable to concentrate ones
62:38
effort on the level of regional and
62:41
local rather than national politics and
62:44
they are to promote a radical agenda of
62:48
decentralization of nullification and
62:51
peaceful separation segregation and the
62:54
session most importantly however we must
62:58
take heed of Ludwig von Mises life motto
63:01
do not give in to evil but proceed
63:04
evermore boldly against it that is we
63:07
must speak out whenever and wherever was
63:11
an informal or in informal in gatherings
63:14
against anyone affronting us with it by
63:17
now only all-too-familiar political
63:20
correct drivel and left egalitarian
63:23
balderdash and unmistakeably say no hell
63:27
no you must be kidding and in the
63:30
meantime given the almost complete mind
63:34
control exercised by the ruling elites
63:36
academia and the mainstream media it
63:39
already acquires a good portion of
63:41
courage to do that but if we are not
63:44
brave enough to do so now and just set
63:47
an example for others to follow
63:49
Methos will become increasingly worse
63:52
and more dangerous
63:54
the future and we and Western
63:57
civilization and the Western ideas of
63:59
freedom and liberty will be wiped out
64:01
and vanish thank you very much
64:04
[Applause]
