Missing the Point and Importance of Hoppe’s PFS Speech

By Michael Tabone

Recently, Hans-Hermann Hoppe gave a speech. It was an important speech. Not because it covered anything new, unraveled a mystery of economic insight he had never explained before, or because he had an amazing power point.

What was great about the speech was that it was a condensed, easily understandable, and brief explanation of how and what libertarianism is, and what are a few bad ideas (including the alt-rights views), and some strategies for Libertarian/Anarcho-Capitialism going forward.

Now like Hoppe or not, the most important point of his entire speech was overlooked by almost all who listened (or didn’t listen but pretended to have an opinion of his speech regardless).

The most important part of this speech was that he is proposing ideas which push the understood boundaries of libertarianism/anarcho-capitalism. Hoppe is amongst the few people who is not debating with people over the use of a term, the political flavor of the year, or a presidential election, or whatever minor and insignificant prattle holding down most libertarian infighting.

Whether you believe Hoppe is correct or incorrect is secondary to whether you are going to take the ball and run to the next evolution of Libertarian/AnCap philosophy or not. If you can logically show Hoppe to be wrong, in the most scientific of ways, I pray that you can prove it logically in a paper. If you can show him to be correct, I pray you can prove it logically in a paper as well. But not by silly arguing and petty insults.

I remember when I was in my teens and I was denouncing Marx (I was a statist back then but a Jefferson Statists so at least I had that). But I had not read Marx. It was to my ever lasting shame that I denounced something I knew nothing about. I never did an ounce of reading of the mans work. It was wrong of me to assume. While I was correct in my assumed conclusion that he was wrong, I did so only because of assumptions and not research. Now that I’m an economist, I know the HOW and WHY he was incorrect (thanks in part to Mises University).

But I implore you, to watch the video. Hoppe has written several books, been a professor of Economics, which he is a PhD in, and has many lectures you can see on YouTube. But I really recommend you watch this one.

And if you’re so inclined: prove your counterpoint in a constructive, philosophical manner so we can move the evolution of Libertarian/Anarcho-Capitalism forward.

Leave the non-constructive fighting to the one party political system and lost souls.
