We discuss yet another Christmas classic from the 80’s, Trading Places, starring Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd in a modern-day (progressive) interpretation of the Prince and the Pauper.
We are joined by Trey Weaver of the Subversion Webcast (the newest member of the Libertarian Union, and all around good guy) to discuss this nature vs. nurture, social engineering, comedy that has perhaps even more relevance today than it did in 1983.

I wish I had recalled this during the show (and also called out Al Franken which was also a miss), but here is a novel that gives good background on the challenges faced historically by wheat producers and their attempts to stabilize the prices via government action. TL;DR – it didn’t work.
The free market to the rescue as the creation of the futures market and trading solved the problem via voluntary means.
It’s also a great book, and if you have not ever read any Garrett, you are in for a treat.

The point is to show what anarchy actually is with instances that are presented in film.
