We did “The Passion of the Christ” last year telling the story of the Crucifixion, this year is an appropriate continuation of that story as we get some of the periphery and aftermath as we talk about “The Robe” with the Anarcho-Christian.
It’s a story about crushing guilt for ‘just following orders’ and finding redemption in faith. Then being willing to die standing on principles. There’s a strong anti-state message against the tyrant Caligula at the end, for which the sentence is death.

Marcellus has never been a man of faith like his slave, Demetrius (Victor Mature), but when Demetrius escapes with the robe, Marcellus experiences disturbing visions and feels guilty for his actions. Convinced that destroying the robe will cure him, Marcellus sets out to find Demetrius — and discovers his Christian faith along the way.

Towards the end of the episode, we talk about the prospects for liberty in light of the COVID-19 mass hysteria and it seems that we are far more outnumbered than ever thought possible. In Dave Smith’s Part of the Problem, episode #567, Scott Horton noted a terrifying poll of the American people by constitutional lawyers about what citizens would be willing to accept in regards to a government response to coronavirus. All eight measures surveyed were either outright unconstitutional or right on the edge of being so (by today’s extremely lax standards) and a majority of the respondents were a-OK with each and every one of them.

Robert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/Anarcho-Capitalist perspective. If it’s voluntary, we’re cool with it. If it’s not, then it violated the Non-Aggression Principle and Property Rights – the core tenants of Libertarian Theory – and hence – human freedom.
We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking. Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread and butter.
We also will highlight and discuss any themes or lessons from Austrian Economics that we can glean from the film.
The point is to show what anarchy actually is with instances that are presented in film.
We publish new episodes on Sunday just in time for your Monday commute; and occasionally will do specials surrounding holidays or events (elections/olympics).
