We continue on the war theme as we have Dr. Dennis Foster on to talk about “Conspiracy”, no, not the 2008 Val Kilmer classic, we’re doing the HBO/BBC version which is derived from transcripts of the 1942 Wannsee Conference, a top-secret Nazi meeting to debate the merits of Hitler’s ‘Final Solution’.
In 1942, officials of the Third Reich gather in Wannsee, near Berlin, Germany to plan the extermination of an entire race. The decision was already made, this was just for show and to make them all complicit. I argue this was a power grab by the SS using intimidation and subtle threats in what is essentially a one-room play in this tense and well-crafted movie depicting the banality with which horrific things can be processed.

To begin this Final Solution, they must change the mind of a small group of men opposed to the idea, led by Chancellor Kritzinger (David Threlfall).

Our guest is Dr. Dennis Foster. He was born in Washington, D.C. but raised mostly in Denver, Colorado.
He went to Drake University in Des Moines as an undergraduate (majoring in economics). After that, he went to work for a bank in Denver after graduation for one year before starting graduate school at the University of Hawaii. He received his doctorate from there in 1991. Since 1990 he has been teaching at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.
For the past few years, his primary courses have been Macroeconomics, Money & Banking, and Public Choice Theory where he introduces students to the likes of Murray N. Rothbard and Tom Woods and several other Austrian School thinkers.

We also will highlight and discuss any themes or lessons from Austrian Economics that we can glean from the film.
The point is to show what anarchy actually is with instances that are presented in film.
We publish new episodes on Sunday just in time for your Monday commute; and occasionally will do specials surrounding holidays or events (elections/olympics).
