Sound of Metal is a 2019 Belgian-American drama film directed and co-written by Darius Marder. It stars Riz Ahmed as a metal drummer who loses his hearing and struggles to adjust to his loss of a familiar sense and seeks to find a quick cure rather than embrace and adapt.
Rocky is a great guest to have on for this one and he also just released a book about songwriting that we will discuss.

Rocky Ferrenburg (https://rockyferrenburg.com/) is a 4-time returning guest. He’s a musician, political advocate, writer, podcaster, speaker and as will be quite obvious from this episode, a truck driver to boot! He’s also a recovering addict who has turned his life around, gotten married, has a child, is close to finishing more degrees than most doctors and is a life-long comic book fan. Rocky’s a great friend of the show and always brings an interesting perspective – even when he’s wrong 😉 (like about “Gremlins” being a better Christmas movie than “Die Hard”.

Robert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/Anarcho-Capitalist perspective. If it’s voluntary, we’re cool with it. If it’s not, then it violated the Non-Aggression Principle and Property Rights – the core tenants of Libertarian Theory – and hence – human freedom.
We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking. Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread and butter.
We also will highlight and discuss any themes or lessons from Austrian Economics that we can glean from the film.
The point is to show what anarchy actually is with instances that are presented in film.
We publish new episodes on Sunday just in time for your Monday commute; and occasionally will do specials surrounding holidays or events (elections/olympics).
