In the year 2274, young residents enjoy an idyllic, hedonistic lifestyle within the protective confines of a domed city. The general belief is that when each person turns 30, they are reincarnated for another blissful life cycle. Those who know the much darker truth become “runners” and flee to a hidden sanctuary. When law enforcement officer Logan (Michael York) goes undercover to locate the refuge, he winds up instead trying to initiate a revolution with runner Jessica.

Our guest is Dr. Dennis Foster. He was born in Washington, D.C. but raised mostly in Denver, Colorado.
He went to Drake University in Des Moines as an undergraduate (majoring in economics). After that, he went to work for a bank in Denver after graduation for one year before starting graduate school at the University of Hawaii. He received his doctorate from there in 1991. Since 1990 he has been teaching at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.
For the past few years, his primary courses have been Macroeconomics, Money & Banking, and Public Choice Theory where he introduces students to the likes of Murray N. Rothbard and Tom Woods and several other Austrian School thinkers.

Robert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/Anarcho-Capitalist perspective. If it’s voluntary, we’re cool with it. If it’s not, then it violated the Non-Aggression Principle and Property Rights – the core tenants of Libertarian Theory – and hence – human freedom.
We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking. Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread and butter.
We also will highlight and discuss any themes or lessons from Austrian Economics that we can glean from the film.
The point is to show what anarchy actually is with instances that are presented in film.
We publish new episodes on Sunday just in time for your Monday commute; and occasionally will do specials surrounding holidays or events (elections/olympics).
